Mad Monkey Melbourne

I’ve stayed in many hostels, but I’ve never felt this level of cleanliness and comfort anywhere else. The staff were always busy, which really showed how much effort they put into maintaining the place. I’m quite an introverted person, but I really appreciated how they kindly approached me first and made me feel welcome. The location is great and the price is very reasonable. Highly recommend!

I had a really pleasant stay at this hostel. The staff were consistently incredibly friendly and gave a very warm welcome. I was also particularly impressed by the cleanliness: it was thoroughly cleaned daily, so I could always feel comfortable. If I had any concerns, they always tried to find a quick solution. One minor criticism is perhaps the kitchen, which was occasionally a bit chaotic. However, this is less the fault of the hostel itself and more due to some guests who don't clean up after

Had a good stay and the place is nice but people here are so messy! My room stinked and we had a mouse aswell. Also I left a really expensive shampoo in my locker and called back three hours later and they had already tossed it and offered little help at retrieving it. Same with my shoes outside on the rack that also were tossed without any notice (luckily I was still at the property and able to get them back). Left me with a sour note.

I think overall good hostel, just not good if you're a solo traveller. the social areas/kitchen is pretty small so if their is one big group who knows eachother it makes it very hard to meet people. otherwise everything was good value for money.

I arrived at Mad Monkey Melbourne unsure if I’d stay long, but I ended up calling it home for months. The location is perfect, everything is within easy reach and is close to the CBD. The staff are incredible (special love to Emre). The TV room is THE spot for a cozy nap and the rooftop/kitchen is perfect for socialising. Such a warm and friendly vibe 🫶🏻

Küche war in Ordnung aber da ist Luft nach oben. Badezimmer gut, man kann in den Duschen je nachdem die Trofen zählen, wird aber trotzdem nass. Bett gut, Zimmer sehr eng und Spinde waren in Ordnung. Sonst doch ganz gut und schöner Blick von der Dachterrasse

We did not enjoy our stay. On multiple occasions, female staff were rude and ignored us despite greeting them. Our 6am check-in after a delayed flight felt like an inconvenience, with poor attitude, unprofessional comments, and no information given. Staff spoke and laughed in their own language in front of us. A later request for a hair dryer was met with dismissiveness. Male staff were polite and helpful, especially one who stood out.

Had an amazing stay here! The hostel was spotless, the staff were genuinely friendly and always happy to help, and the guests created such a welcoming, social vibe. The location is perfect, close to everything but still comfortable and easy to relax in. Would absolutely stay again and highly recommend to other travellers.

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at, very clean and well kept. Extremely polite staff always smiling and making everyone feel very welcome. They provide food 4 days a week completely free which is brilliant for travelling people like myself. All rounded good vibes, would definitely recommend.

Great hostel and Emre was super helpful for us from when we checked in, to other questions we had and when he checked us out. Made our stay much more enjoyable and friendly. The hostel is clean and good processes in place, it’s a great social hostel that is well worth a try. A few prop said the best they’ve been to.

No common space to socialise...disappointing

We have stayed here for 3 nights. One of the best backpacker hostels I have ever experienced so far. Super clean and safe. All staff is helpful and smiling. There is even a one receptionist, Emre, who can speak our mother language. We felt most welcomed as soon as we entered the facility to check-in thanks to him. The only shortcoming of the hostel is that there isn’t enough shaded area on the rooftop. During certain hours of the day, if the weather is clear and sunny, it’s almost impossibl...

This hostel was gerat. It was the first stop on our trip and it was a very good start. The rooms are very clean (they get deep cleaned once a week and vacuumed every day). The kitchen was well equipped and the hostel is well situated (the tram and busstations are not far and the super market was right around the corner)

Good for a few nights in Melbourne but wouldn’t want to stay any longer. Feel like a lot of people were long term so felt like they had already made friends

The reception team was very nice and helpful. Nice and clean room. No lift and no proper laundry room. The hostel is really loud though. I could hear people in the reception area shouting and having a party at 11:30pm. Kitchen tables were always dirty and sticky. Hard to socialise because most people have been living in this hostel for months. If you’re not a smoker good luck using the kitchen and rooftop - everybody’s smoking there so the kitchen gets the smell as well.
