I stayed here twice and it was pretty good overall. They give you a little tour at check in which I really appreciated and wish more hostels would do the same! The free pancake breakfast was a much appreciated bonus also🙌 However, the first bed I stayed in (room 10A) was unfortunately pretty awful as you could feel all of the springs and they made so much noise when you moved! The other bed I stayed in was a bit better. Some of the power points were also not working.
Very cosy and comfortable. Really nice social areas, great kitchen and lounge and the pancakes in the morning were incredible! Really nice place to stay would stay here again
I didnt like it. The kitchen is disgusting and there was a homeless person with her shopping trolley in my room who was talking and screaming the whole night, pretty creepy! I didnt feel comfortable nor safe.
We didn’t feel safe here, it was very run down and just didn’t seem worth what we paid for it. Staff were kind but didn’t know what they were doing so we wasted a lot of time when they were trying to take payment for a deposit they never mentioned we’d have to pay
Site has potential; but it is run down and has lots of ‘permanent’ or long term residents. So it resembles more of a lodge and less of a hostel. Facilities could do with maintenance and a refresh. With organised activities and a proactive effort to seperate ‘lodging’ and travellers in hostel there’s a bit of potential. Also there’s heaps of rubbish/vehicles dumped. So a general tidy up and improve that could be huge. Pancakes for breakfast is a nice initiative they have to improve ...
Unbelievable friendly staff and very good dorms. The outdoor area is great too.
The Building is a bit chabby, needs Paint and renovation. Located above a pub we had a terrible sleep on Friday night! The People do their best to keep it clean and their gelpful and friendly. The pancakes we're great , every morning :-) thx guys! Keep going!
The atmosphere wasn’t really welcoming
Super clean! Good pancakes in the morning. Need to improve showers but everything was much better than other random hostels! Thank you
I loved staying at this hostel! Perfectly located by Shoal Bay and close to Albany’s main street, it’s clean and welcoming. The staff are always ready to help, the kitchen is generous and the lounge cosy and spacious. Rooms are simple but practical, with wardrobes and bedside tables. And the best part… the pancakes! Their smell fills the hallways. A scratch behind Tacos the cat’s ear and you’re ready to explore this peaceful town.
Good vibes with other backpackers and staff. Seems like some elder people are living here permanently, but they didn't bother us. Rooms are ok (no plugs tho) and pancakes for amazing!
great location. lovely staff
un peu vieillot mais pour le prix l'hostel fait le job
So much lost potential. Manager seems to be lazy and incompetent. He sat scrolling on a bench all day whilst his hostel stinks. Toilets are from the Stone Age. Rooms are decent and outside area is nice. Kitchen is moldy and they’ve not even fixed the pool table in about a decade. We went with the intention of a long term stay. But would have been awful
Hostel was decently clean, with lovely large rooms and good amenities (clean kitchen, bathroom, common areas). Staff were pretty friendly, and the backpackers were super social as well. Pancakes in the morning were a nice touch - though be ware, they're super anal about you only taking one at a time. That was unnecessarily uncomfortable. Other than this, I had a great time!
Was alright, not a very social hostel though. At least not in the timeframe we were there. Little privacy due to no curtains or anything and no lockers which you could actually lock there.
Lovely hostel in historic Albany, spent new years there and was packed. The hostel was a bit of an oddity hosting families with kids and seniors, amongst the usual international 20 something on their visa year, this diversity of guess made for a much more pleasant atmosphere compared to most Aussie hostels I’ve stayed. Pancake breakfast every morning. The one negative was the bathroom had a constant bad smell.
Below standard issues.1. Amenities 0/10Vile. Are these the original amenities from 1909? When were they last cleaned? Putrid overbearing smell of urine, toilet plungers left in cubicles.Showers in a separate room though the stench throughout is unavoidable and gagging!Lighting broken, rerequiring repair. 2. Rooms 3/102 Power outlets for 6 bunks? Pourly located & inaccessible/unavailable for use by all guests.Bunk beds have no ladder access.Bedding sheet cleanliness to be questioned.Pillow,
Great ppl, great atmosphere. Typical hostel but the bathroom, dormeds and doors should be renovated...
