First of all, approaching this place in the night was lowkey terrifying, but when you wake up its the most beautiful place you've ever seen. The bus will drop you off, and you must hike along a cross-country ski track. The little old lady at the front desk was like a cute fairy, but she spoke no English. She can communicate via Google Translate, and she assured us they treated for bed bugs, which we were a little wary about, but we believed her because she's cute. An experience, but I recommend.
TLDR: Infested with BED BUGS so don't stay here (or at least keep your stuff outside of your room). The hostel is located in the woods which is fine during the day but at night it is not only difficult to get to but also really creepy (when I first arrived I thought it was abandoned). There is hot water and everything seemed clean, but there are no wall plugs so its hard to charge anything. Most importantly, there were also bed bugs. I got bites all over my hand.
Bed bug infested!! Beware if you’re thinking of booking this hostel.
Bed bugs!! Don’t go
It's more like a mountain hat then like a hostel. Apart from it is in the valley. The comfort level isn't great and they accept only cash but you get rewarded by lots of hikers, mountaineers, trail runners stories. The kitchen is well equipped also
La señora me pareció muy enojona. Cero hospitalidad. Poco respetuosa.
my advice would be to set your expectations like you’re staying in a hut or mountain refuge. that’s more the vibe of this place than an all strings attached ‘hostel’. if you’re in chamonix you probably love hiking, climbing, the outdoors etc so i don’t see why you also wouldn’t love this place. it’s got a rustic charm and i would definitely stay here again. loved it. only downside is only having one plug socket for the room
Its the only hostel in Chamonix so if you need a bed I guess it will do. The beds are short though so if you are tall your feet will be on someone else's bed (given that they are so close together). Also the lady at the reception is rather unfriendly, she will only speak french, and even if you speak french with her she is unfriendly. Honestly I would recommend sleeping in a tent or p much anywhere else if you can and only sleep here is you don't really have another choice.
Still good value for the price, but a couple of drawbacks. Not enough hot water if multiple people want to take a shower. Dormitories were closed during the day (10.00 - 17.00). Host was not too welcoming or helpful.
Muy económico y limpio y ambiente acogedor
The managing lady doesn’t speak any english, would come in past 11 pm & wake us up trying to find people (we think), there is 3 toilets for everyone, 1 was blocked for a week, showers had no hot water & the light would go off while you were in there, linen smells like it has never been washed, mattress are lined up on the floor in what feels like an attic with little airflow & no heating / cooling. no security or locking, 1 powerpoint in a room for 11 people.
Nice spot. 12 bed dorm upstairs, with the floor mattresses, has bedbugs
Very crowded but fine for a night
Good but cash only and reception didn’t speak English so hard to communicate
Abbastanza sporco
I loved my stay here. Everyone I met was lovely and the price was very reasonable. Its very easy to find walks to do from the hostel, and the hostel is just a 15 min walk from the shops. I would choose to stay here again if I were coming to chamoinx.
I stayed in the hostel for two nights. The location is quite nice, because it is in a forest, but it is also close to the main road, and the center of the city. The stuff was helpful and the guests that stayed there were really friendly. If I come to Chamonix again, I will definitely stay in the same hostel.
