Sugar Hostel Weligama - Coliving & Coworking

Location is good & staff is nice - but the beds are very hard (I had to leave after a couple days cause I couldn’t sleep) + they turn off the electricity during the night so you can’t charge your phone

Not very clean, doors also all open throughout. unfortunately no more food available at the reception. otherwise an average hostel.

Great location and great food

This hostel is amazing! I stayed here for a week with my brother: zero complaints! Loved the free coworking space and the friendly staff who even let me use it in the middle of the night. One note for fellow guests: if you plan to get it released, please book a private room. We can hear the noises, even in our sleep. Totally get that it’s a human need, but so is consideration. Not fun being stuck in that situation, lol.

Nice hostel and very near to the hotspot in weligama . I only wish the coworking space was 24 hours because it was so great to have! I'm very glad I stayed here.

Super fun hostel to stay at especially if you love surfing. I was here for 4 nights and there were some social activities offered each night, the co working also very good . High speed internet and laundry everything good

The hostel has potential but doesn’t deliver. No common areas, no activities, so it’s hard to meet people. My dorm’s bathroom door didn’t close and someone walked in while I was showering; staff were told many times but never fixed it. They’re friendly but very disorganized. Check-in is slow and they even charged me for the co-working after staying 6 days. With all the options in Weligama, I wouldn’t return.

Very unpleasant stay. The receptionist was really unfriendly and unhelpful. No hand soap in the bathroom, that should be a minimum. Dirty towels and not very clean bathroom. You cannot charge your phone at night because the power turns off when you turn off the big light in the room. So bring an eye mask. Would not recommend.

Rooms are very cozy and beautifully made. The hostel is very social, and the people are nice. It’s in a great location, easy to reach by bus or other transport. The staff are friendly and organize lovely Day trips.

The co-working space is a great advantage with fast Wi-Fi — around 300 Mbps — covering the entire property. They also have a surf school and everything you need, making it a super nice place. I 100% recommend it! It’s not a party hostel, but I really love the vibe.

Zimmer, Bad und Aufenthaltsräume sehr gut. Jedoch gab es einige Vorfälle mit den Mitarbeitern. Erstens wurden wir ununterbrochen in den Aufenthaltsbereichen angesprochen und bequatscht. Außerdem ist das männliche Personal ungefragt und unangekündigt in einen female only Dorm reingekommen. Der Höhepunkt war jedoch als um 23.00Uhr ein männlicher Mittarbeiter völlig high durch unser Zimmer lief. Alle Damen haben daraufhin am nächsten Morgen ihre Sachen gepackt und sind gegangen.
