Papaya Tree Hostel

Ein ganz, ganz tolles Hostel! Man kann hier super socialisen und hat gleichzeitig aber auch Raum, um sich zurückzuziehen und zu entspannen. Es werden eine Menge Aktivitäten angeboten, weshalb nie Langeweile aufkommt. Auch die Connection mit der Surfschule ist super. Ich komme sehr gerne wieder :)

Really really really loved papayatree!! We wished we could stay there longer. The hostel is beautiful and new. The owner is super kind and helpfull. It feels like a home. There were lots of girls and we did activities together. Also you can go with discount to a surfing school via the hostel which is also great. So all the love to papayatree!!

comfy beds, i got unlucky being top bunk and there’s no shelf which was annoying as they’re pretty high. also was unlucky as the environment in my dorm was unwelcoming and the aircon kept being turned off by the other guests (despite having paid extra for aircon room?). bathroom floors were not clean. also the sink and shower were in the same room, so if you used the toilet while someone is showering you can’t wash your hands.

We had an amazing stay at Papaya Tree Hostel! Agnes is a fantastic host who creates a welcoming and social atmosphere that makes you feel at home. We loved the vibe in the house and the daily activities that made it easy to meet new people and have fun together. One of our highlights was the delicious curry at Dulnetha and the fun nights out at Doctor’s House. A special mention to Bobby, the hostel dog, she was incredibly sweet and friendly! The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable.

Chill hostel. Beds feel a bit rickety and the one bathroom situation isn't the best. Common area is very hot.

i had the best time at the papaya hostel. the people are incredibly welcoming and helpful. we did many things together as a hostel. we went to parties, dinner and talked for hours. it's the best place to meet nice people. so if you want to have a good time in weligama, go to the papaya hostel!

I ended up extending my stay for over two weeks because I loved everything about this hostel! The vibe is so chill. If you want to be social, there’s something happening almost every day, like group dinners, yoga and nights out. But if you need some quiet time, there’s plenty of room for that too! The hostel is always nice and quiet at night. The beds are comfortable, the facilities are great, and the property is well maintained. I highly recommend staying here✨

Ich habe meinen Aufenthalt hier wirklich geliebt, tolles süßes Hostel, total liebes Personal, viele offene Gäste und tägliche Aktivitäten zb bei Partnerhostels an denen man teilnehmen kann, aber auch immer seine Ruhe im eigenen Hostel haben kann. Würde direkt wieder hin gehen!

Wenn man ein entspanntes Social Hostel sucht, in dem man neue Leute treffen kann und trotzdem relaxen kann, ist man hier genau richtig. Es gibt jeden Tag verschiedene Aktivitäten, einen süßen Hostel Hund und Marie, die Besitzerin, sorgt dafür dass sich alle wohlfühlen. War schön bei euch ☀️

I stayed in Papaya tree hostel and was my first place when arrived to Sri Lanka, Marie from the beginning was such a nice host, she look after me since the day of arrival organising the taxi for me as I was arriving at night. The hostel is a little gem in the heart of Weligama, you have access to the beach at 2 min walks and all the shops you need super close as well. The hostel was really clean and I slept so good! 0 noises! They also offer daily activities and family dinner which is a big plus

Home away from home. I stayed in the private room and I felt so relaxed at the hostel. I was still able to meet some really cool people and didn’t feel lonely at all. Would definitely stay there again when I go back to Weligama.

This is such a lovely new hostel. It‘s calm and peaceful but social at the same time. Marie organises nice little events or trips that you can join and takes you out on parties if you feel like dancing. I had the best sleep there cause it’s a natural ventilation and it’s very quiet at night.

Das beste Hostel in dem ich je war. Etwas kleiner, aber dadurch auch sehr familiär und alle sind super freundlich. Außerdem war es total sauber. Wir waren super oft alle zusammen essen abends oder haben etwas zusammen unternommen. Würde immer wieder herkommen.

This is a gem! The girls are lovely and so welcoming, there’s activities organised everyday like yoga or pilates, dinner, karaoke night etc! I got the 4 Female Bed room with a friend, the company was great, and the whole house is very clean! A minute away from the beach and they have a little kitchen where you can cook and store your stuff in the cuboards and fridge. Overall a 10/10!

Lovely staff, really enjoyed our stay here. Only downside is no aircon but still highly recommend. Great balance of social and chill atmosphere

Booked two nights but left after the first. I genuinely don’t understand how this place has so many good reviews. There is only one bathroom for a 10-bed dorm, and it was very dirty. The worst part was the dorm room itself: no air conditioning, extremely hot, and no windows that can be opened. Combined with a lot of mosquitoes, it made sleeping almost impossible. This was easily the worst night I’ve had in four week

Selten in so einem tollen Hostel übernachtet! Die Betten sind hervorragend, die duschen sind top! Das ganze Hostel ist sauber und hat einen tollen vibe. Die Besitzerin is super freundlich und plant durchweg gute Aktivitäten. Habe hier zwei mal verlängert und würde immer wieder hierher kommen.
