Haus Douz

Everything perfect! Rly good price also! The host is rly nice and responds quickly. Top, top! Just dont expect too much socially hqppening as douz isn‘t rly a place for a lot of young travellers yet. Also the desert (tours) are better in ksar ghilane (nicer desert) and you can go there by hitchhiking quite easily. I recommend matmata for ely friendly locals and the most beautiful ladscape! Douz is nice to see a desert town with local people its rly safe. Tourists usually just go to the souk...

Sehr angenehme Unterkunft für eine Nacht in Douz. Alles war sauber, ruhig und unkompliziert. Die Gastgeber waren freundlich und hilfsbereit, man fühlt sich direkt willkommen. Es gibt keine Rezeption, daher am besten kurz vor der Ankunft Kontakt aufnehmen. Perfekt als Zwischenstopp vor oder nach einer Wüstentour.

I really liked staying in Haus Douz. It was the best hostel in Tunisia I stayed in. I was a bit skeptical at first since it’s new and had no reviews yet, but that was totally unnecessary. The owners were very friendly and even gave us a short city tour. There was no WiFi yet during my stay (beginning of February 2026), but that might have changed by now. It was quiet, but given the low season and it being a new place, that made perfect sense!
