Objectively there are some things wrong with it, the showers are cold, rooms don’t get cleaned, the hostel’s construction feels unfinished buttt the vibes are just brilliant. The location is amazing with the sunset views, beach volleyball, beautiful pool and lovely staff. You can rent bikes and snorkel from the hostel too. I met the nicest people there as well. I’d recommend booking it!
A beautiful hostel with relaxed friendly vibes and wonderful staff. They upgraded us to a private room free of charge and the beds were very comfortable. Reey was especially helpful with organising our transport and made sure our journey ran smoothly. Highly recommend My Mates Place if you are staying on Gili Air.
My Mate’s Place was a great place to stay in Gili Air! I traveled with 3 others, so we booked 2 separate rooms (2 in each) and we all made plenty of new friends during our stay! It is a ~20 minute walk from the pier, and there are portions that are just sand to walk through, but it’s manageable. Staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. We were able to drop off our laundry, rent bikes, and use snorkel gear - all through the front desk! I would definitely stay here again!
Ray was excellent. Helped me sort my visa, was a very friendly man and was even lucky enough to meet his family!!
All in all it is a good Hostel. It’s right at the beach and perfect to watch the sunset. The staff was super nice and always helpful, especially Reey. He even helped me to extend my visa.
Stayed in a private room, it's a little expensive for what it is. It was off season so it wasn't very busy, they didn't do any activities aside from volleyball. The location isn't bad there are lots of restaurants around and you can walk to the other side of the island in 20 minutes. As a lot of other people said the owner really needs to fix the wooden doors, they don't latch or lock properly but it was entertaining listening to people try.
Overpriced for what it is really. Three bed dorms with bathrooms doors that don’t fit the frames, wakes everyone up when opened and closed. Majority of options on the food and drinks menu are unavailable due to them being “sold out” such as any coffee, only beer in bottles, no slushie, we was served raw eggs for breakfast, and when we sent it back, they sent them back raw again. No hot water, small island so we understand. Staff weren’t interested. Pool was nice, overall, sleep here t...
The lock bathroom lock is very loud and requires be forced open which is a problem at night when every is asleep unless you keep it open when inside. Also, the ventilation openings in the bathroom are not covered with any nets and let's mosquitoes into the room, as a result the room is always full of mosquitoes. Bed linen is super soft!

There was only a pool and somewhere to sit and that was it. The room was “cleaned” but dead insects everywhere. Not really many people staying there either so wasn’t very social. They didn’t give me a key to my room so I couldn’t lock the room when leaving the place also.
Just a bed and a pool, don't expect more.
The only good thing in this hostel was the pool view nothing else. Place is extremely fare from center cold shower in a rainy day is not the max Staff not friendly. no free breakfast as everywhere in Gili islands. In evening I had to sleep without dinner as area is so so dark and fare from everything I was scared to go out alone very empty hostel. And very windy to enjoy the pool or beach.
I had an amazing time at My Mate's place. Easy to reach by foot from the harbor. There were not so many people, but it was fair because it's low season. Just in front of the hostel there's a super cool pool and a beach volley court where some locals play every evening and you can join them, super fun! The room was super clean as was the bathroom (big floor shower, top). the guys that work there are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for your stay in Gili T
Gili air is a beautiful island and very easy to just walk everywhere. I went in rainy season so the hostel was very quiet and there weren’t any events but I don’t know if this is due to it being wet season. There isn’t hot water so cold showers only. The hostel is in a good location on the beach and next to a dive school and lots of bars and restaurangs
I absolutely loved it here and I didn't want to leave. A lovely fresh room with space and only 3 beds in the dorm with en suite. The staff were lovely and very helpful and I even got a lift to the port and helped with my forwarding transport on Lombok. It was quiet when I went early January, but it was lovely and relaxing. It would be nice to do some of the events they put on when it's busier. I will stay here again if I'm able to come back.
Loved this hostel, and the staff were so friendly ! Thank u for the amazing iced coffee!! The pool was pristine and the rooms were brilliant (we booked a private room). The hostel is right on the beach and near lots of restaurants and dive companies. Had a really chill time here :)
GREAT Hostel, just great. Clean and organized while still having that local feel and the cheap hostel prices, I loved this place. The main issue for me was that there was almost nobody there to hang out with or talk to, which was a bit sad lmao. I did end up finding friends, but through other hostels and events like playing volleyball outside the hostel on the beach. The place does have amazing food, drinks, and a killer spot for a sunset, so I’ll give it that. Really worth your time!
We loved our stay and absolutely recommend staying here! We organized a snorkeling trip with them and got bikes for 24 hours to get to the starting point. The staff was super helpful, especially when they last minute organized a transfer to the airport for us because of a flight cancellation or did an express laundry for us. Location is rather quiet than other parts of the island, which we absolutely loved. Amazing place to hang out and just chill.
We really recommend this place! We extended a few times. The shower was cold but it doesn’t matter because it’s hot outside. The roof in the shower and toilet isn’t rainproof. The staff was really nice and helpfull!
Hostel tres confortable, de l'espace dans les chambres, avec locker. la Salle de bain n'etait pas bien nettoyée (bcp de vers de terre et insectes par terre) et beaucoup de moustique car ouverte sur l'exterieur. il serait bien de rajouter des moustiquaires dans les salles de bain
