I only stayed one night, but it was a pleasant stay overall (I was the only one in the dorm). It lives up to its name, since it's a family home converted into a hostel. It has a kind of cozy vibe, though with some limits like one bathroom per floor. The manager was polite and considerate. It seems to cater to long-term tenants, some were super loud in the hallway with their video calls at 5AM. A big plus for not raising prices during marathon weekend, might be a great budget option for runners.
Affordable, modest hostel in a regular neighborhood. I thought the common areas were cozy but clean and the other guests pleasant and polite. The atmosphere is peaceful and it's located right on a T stop. The one problem we had was a near lockout after a night on the town. We were not emailed the outside code and would have been locked out all night if not for a sleepy guest walking by the door and recognizing us. There was no recourse in the moment- distressing but all's well that ends well.
They have no heater and It was so cold the temperature were between 32 and 38
this hostel is v quaint and quirky. private room and shared bathrooms were clean. our room was on the main floor in a pretty hi traffic area and the walls are thin, so pack your earplugs and ask for an extra blanket for those cold nights. quiet hours were honored mostly, albeit tardy. parking for a daily fee or good luck w street parking. full kitchen available! family friendly! recommended! improvements to consider: fridge management system, dishwasher install.
They charged me for accommodation after I canceled and never refunded me after a long email chain are redirecting me and saying to me in person I would be charged.
It's a local house made as hostel. clean, quite, cozy and very close the public transport. I totally suggest it!
The place was freezing and there is no heating in the rooms, this was very uncomfortable at night. Unfortunately the amount of people in one tiny room is ridiculous for the amount of money that you have to pay. There isn’t anywhere to put anything and 6 people in a mixed dorm that small was very very smelly. Bedding & towels very old & worn out. The mattresses have seen better days, they make a lot of noise when you sit on them. Only saw a member of staff briefly on check in the fi...
Nice and close to the train station, but no lockable place for valuables storage, and no curtains or privacy between beds, so as a solo female traveler in a mixed dorm, it felt overly exposed. Very clean and the staff were nice!
super expérience !
Greta hostel, but I would mainly say I only slept there, I would say the facilities are a bit antiquated but cleaning and sanitation were ok. Near a mta station with great connectivity and also near stores like target, tj maxx and others. For me it was ok, ✅
the experience with the permanent staff was very disappointing. There is a woman who seems to be in charge — always wearing headphones — who was extremely rude and unwelcoming throughout the stay. She complained about everything, including the fire alarm going off just because someone used the toaster, which clearly isn’t the guest’s fault. special thanks to the volunteers — they were the bright side of an otherwise disappointing stay.
Great value for money compared to other places in Boston. Basic, comfortable bed, the top bunk is very squeaky but otherwise it was fine!
We enjoyed our stay! Only complaints were that we tried to call with a check-in question and couldn’t get anyone on the line and the water pressure was so weak I could barely take a shower! Decent location in a neighborhood and close to a subway stop.
Old apartment house that's seen better days. Everything (furniture, fixtures) looks a little run down. Pros: - Metro is close - 15 minute ride downtown or to Amtrak - You get a towel - Nice view from large balcony - Entry by code only Cons: - Nothing in the neighborhood - Squeaky bunks - Rooms aren't that well ventilated - Lots of rules posted everywhere and fines for not following them - Staff only present part of the day
Perfect location just off the red line, close to City Center. Easy access with code locks. Excellent value for Boston. Only minor negatives were related to fellow guests being unaware of others waiting for bathrooms or kitchen access, and lack of oven but the positives greatly outweigh these minor inconveniences.
Very amazing communication. I felt safe and they answered all my questions and never acted annoyed. This was my first time to stay at a hostel and they made it the best experience ever. Every floor had their own kitchen and bathrooms and this place was close to local bars and train and uber was only 15 minutes to the heart of Boston and only cost $12 on average. Boston Homestel was amazing. Thank you!
Really handy location and good value
Great for short staying, close to the center, good value for money.
Very cooperative staff; Good location ; nearer to metro (sub ) station. ( However, in the guidelines how to reach, turn "right" is missing , once you come out of metro station. ) No negatives except that the bathrooms are very narrow (congested)
Really welcoming, nice area close to the train station with really nice hosts
