I talked with the staff about it she wasn't helpful at all. Told me there were no other rooms available, checked hostelworld they had a large scroll down list of different rooms available for that night. She even suggested that I go take there bed bugs somewhere else. Please see the attached photos if this review lets me to show the results of their prob

  4. Confirmed Hostelworld

We arrived at the Sparta Team Hostel where we immediately realized that the walls were very dirty and unhygienic but we didn’t more of it at that time since we only booked for 1 night. However we woke up in the middle of the night to bedbugs all over the beds and walls. It was obvious after we researched bedbugs that they must have been there for a while since they were big, colored and there was stains on the sheets. The staff was very friendly and helpful and gave us an almost full refund.

The area where this property is located is terrible, shady and not safe. The room which we were given had bedbugs, we had to leave the room in midnight and since this area was not safe, we hired a taxi to reach the metro station though the station was just 600 meters away meaning walking distance away. Me and my family were roaming on the streets literally like homeless people and we were sitting at bus stop hoping for early Sun rise. We really had a bad experience but we got our refund back.

PEOPLE DON'T GO TO THIS HOSTEL!!!Yes the location is good. Yes, the price is good. Yes the Hostel is Clean! But there are bed bugs EVERYWHERE in this hostel. and people here don't take it seriously. Bed bugs are a serious problem. You don't just wake up covered in 100 red swollen bites, you carry them with you and have them everywhere. They only replies that they always disinfect. The hostel itself is clean, but disinfecting doesn't get rid of bed bugs.An exterminator has to come (we got refund)

    There were bed bugs!!!

  8. Possible Hostelworld

The area of the hotel is horrible. Extremely dirty and run down street, I did not feel secure there at all. The hotel room was ok, but there were bugs in the bed, which did not pick me, but were running up and down on me during the night waking me up several times. The staff was just kind, but did not answer my email and did not confirm my payment by email as promised. I will not return to this hotel and will not suggest it to anybody.

Okay so I normally never write reviews but I really need to warn every solo female traveller about this hostel - DO NOT BOOK!! So as a lot of people mentioned the rooms are not clean or nice. I was in a 6 people dorm (they only have mixed) and it smelled sooo so bad that I couldn't stay in there and I get sick just thinking about the smell tbh - since the room smelled bad all of the sheets smelled awful. The lockers in the rooms were so tiny that I couldn't lock my luggage there - I only found out later that there are bigger lockers at reception but if you have more than carry-on luggage you can't lock that in the dorms. I also think that I got some bites from bed bugs... I stayed in Athens for two nights at the end of March so it wasn't the most touristy season - keep that in mind for the following part. I shared the rooms (I switched rooms after the first night) with only men that seemed to be well over 50 - I felt like I was the only female visitor there and the only younger person. That kind of made me feel like the attraction of the other residents there - I had several VERY uncomfortable interactions with people that stayed there - they mostly remained friendly mind you but just all things combined I felt so on display, unsafe and uncomfortable. The last thing I want to mention is the area: nothing happened to me there mind you but Omonoia is obviously not a nice neighbourhood - when I arrived, there were people fighting, pee and in some cases s*** all over the streets and it smelled horrible. Being German I know that I am obviously very privileged and scare easily when it comes to these things but still I think any solo female traveller will feel unsafe walking here alone at night (in the day time it's absolutely no problem) - so I think the neighbourhood wouldn't be a problem when travelling in groups but staying alone I really dreaded walking to/from the hostel. I definitely want to state a positive though: the staff was really very friendly! They were patient, polite and helpful! As I mentioned I switched rooms after my first night because of the smell (though I didn't mention that to them because I didn't want to seem like a b****) and esp. extremely loud snoring. They didn't make a big deal out of it and I could very easily switch rooms and felt like they took my concerns seriously. I enjoyed talking to both of the staff members I interacted with. And I know that most of the things that made my stay as bad as it was are entirely out of their control. But still I cannot recommend this hostel at all and really wish I hadn't been such a cheapskate because I genuinely maybe slept a total of 2h my entire time in Athens - there are hostels that are similar price ranges around so I would suggest going elsewhere (esp. as a solo female traveller!)

I usual don’t write reviews but guys this place is a No my room was hot and stunk. no joke the place is nasty I woke up at 2am with bedbugs biting me and a tick in my bed I was so grossed out I literally took all my stuff and told the front desk about it. He offered me a new room. walked in and turned right back downstairs. Ended up finding a new place that night. I asked for a refund and they said no.

  11. Confirmed Hostelworld

Reception staff were lovely and there 24/7. Ended up getting bites from bed bugs so wouldn’t recommend sleeping there. Walking in the surrounding streets also didn’t feel safe at night.

  12. Confirmed Hostelworld

The hotel is in a great spot near Psiri and Monistaraki very central. The hotel is a little dated but good value for money. I stayed there twice - first room was great and very clean, shared bathroom was a little dirty but fine and I stayed for 3 nights with no problems. When i returned to the hotel and stayed in a different room this room had an infestation of bed bugs, which was so bad I had to leave. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, but certain rooms need to be de-bugged.

  13. Confirmed Hostelworld

The girls of the reception were very nice, the place it’s not very clean and I found some bedbugs. The location of the hostel it’s a little bit dangerous at night.

  14. Confirmed Hostelworld
