Dazhong Backpacker's Hostel

Quite conveniently located, beds are soft, water available, shower is also decent. At night there was some locals(?) who made a lot of noise one night and were smoking which was a mild disturbance. Apart from this, mr Yao is an incredible host and really cares about helping you and making sure you have all you need. A welcoming soul and also speaks great English. Highly recommend :)

Very nice hostel with very friendly owner who is very knowledgeable of the country who can greatly assist you with any bookings, planning routes etc. Booked a 5 day jungle tour from Bukit Lawang from here which was one of the best experiences I've had whilst travelling.

Loved staying at this hostel! It is located very conveniently in Medan city, next to many food places and a mall for your convenience. It has everything you need for a good price - nice bed, working shower, clean toilet and air conditioning. It is also very easy to meet people here. However, the best part of this hostel is the owner, Mr Yao! He is a very lovely man who is very willing to help you and give you good recommendations - he took me to a local coffee shop and dinner place!

Has everything you need as a backpacker. Fantastic owner. Booked my 3-day trek through him and it was amazing!

Decent, clean Hostel, its enough. The Owner is a really nice guy, he helps me a lot with organize some tours to bukit Lawang. Everything was well organized. I can recommendt this place for sure.

I came twice to this hostel. Just come here for meet the owner its already worth it. He is always kind with his big smile and he really help me a lot. There is always fresh fruit at the reception that you can pick on the mornings and free water also.

Der Besitzer war sehr nett, hat uns mit unserer Bukit Lawang-Tour-Planung geholfen und am letzten Tag durften wir ohne Extrakosten bis nachmittags im Zimmer bleiben. Über das Hostel haben wur 2 Nächte in Bukit Lawang gebucht - ein Tagesausflug zu der Bat Cave und 2D1N Trekking im Dschungel. Die Unterkünfte dort waren super und die Tour hat uns sehr gefallen.

Der Besitzer ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit und hilft bei allem rund um das Jungle Trekking. Er hat uns an unserem letzten Tag länger in der Unterkunft bleiben lassen und wir konnten nach dem Trekking kostenlos Wäsche waschen. Das Trekking war das Highlight unserer Sumatra Reise und der Besitzer des Hostels hat unsere Reise perfekt gemacht. Wir komme gerne wieder!

sadly not worth the money. the matress is to soft & thin for me (80kg), no mosquito net. shower was missing a head. wifi & ac was good. mosquitos were nesting in the waterbasin of the restroom. for a few dollars more you can have a proper hotel with proper amenities.

Excellent hostel, Mr Yao was very accommodating and arranged an amazing 3 day jungle trek for us. The hostel is homely, in a great location, and sociable too. Would definitely come back if i were to re-visit Medan.
