Convenient location for the street car, but even walking down the road to find a coffee shop didn’t feel very safe. Facilities are quite tired and very bare minimum. At 30 I felt like I was the youngest person there
Great experience! Perfectly located spot to access a lot of places in New Orleans, especially if you come out for Jazz Fest. Great staff and facilities. Super welcoming. Will be staying here again next time!
If you are in New Orleans to party, get wasted, and maybe a bit rowdy, then this is the hostel for you. If not, then look elsewhere. The house and dormitories really have that old Louisiana atmosphere with the creaky wood floors and dark interior. The place looks like a haunted house. Everything is old and dilapidated. I didn't even want to use the kitchen or common areas. Everything works, it's just rundown. Most room mates return late at night and are loud. Then they pass out.
This space is truly a quintessential hostel. Folx are hanging out, getting to know each other, and the vibes are chill. We stayed in a private, it was clean. The home is old, but cared for. I am not advocating for updates either, the space is as it should be. Fridge could use a clean out, but I’m happy to know people were using it. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for an “updated, modern space, this isn’t it. It’s homey and eclectic.
Solo African American Female traveler and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, kitchen, amenities, the energy, the location, was all perfect for me particularly. I will most definitely be back for another stay (only thing is it was more expensive to extend my room in person ideally book through the app or online I would up paying $50-$60 for one additional night vs. online it was about $25-$30)
Stains on sheets. Physical keys. Lickers not installed properly so that the exposed side is open, defeating the use of the locker. Better off sleeping outside.
Absolutely worth the money! Definitely a good place to go for a short weekend trip. The folks you'll meet (staff or other visitors) are so friendly. Only negative is that rain came through our window at night and completely soaked my bag.
India House was lovely. Staff and guests alike were charming, funny and told great stories. Lots of fun.
Greatest time ever staff are excellent
Awesome place with super nice staff that took the time to really help me chill out and a friendly smile when most needed after a crazy experience. The beautiful lady that runs the place was very kind after I had made a disaster of my booking. Great atmosphere, free coffee, cute dog, pool. Amazing thank you
The location was excellent, right on the streetcar route. The house speaks of its former grandeur but is lost is neglect. Custodian comes everyday yet the doors, door handles and various other high-contact areas remain absolutely filthy. Entire place is extremely rundown. Minimal indoor seating is dumpster-junk. Bunkbeds shake and squeak loudly with any movement or weight. No private outlets, bed-lights or curtains. Bedding is clean. Staff are great. My money refunded when I requested to leave.
This was a quirky little spot, in a good way. I only stayed for one night, and I stayed in the dorm. The staff was great and the bed was fine. I never used the showers, but it seemed like the facilities were well taken care of. Decent location in Mid City. If you’re on a budget and don’t mind being a little further out of downtown NOLA, I’d recommend it. Cool art all around the house!
They have 3 neighbours houses as part of the property where they host people everywhere I stayed in the last one. only a flimsy lock on the main door Lockers were rusty. Bunk bed very wobbly about to fall apart Stained mattress Floor tiles on bathroom all loose and uneven Bathroom light switch activated a very noisy ceiling exhaust fan on bedroom ceiling. Overall cleanness bad. Did not bother checking main building amenities as stuff was all covered in dust Other hostels USA weren...
I love this place- I've stayed there multiple times and it's always great! The staff is awesome, it's always clean, it's a great location, I highly recommend it.
Place was nice overall, very close to one streetcar stop. Recommend
A nicer hostel but doesn’t carry that vibe
I liked it.
The private room was clean. Staff friendly and helpful. The premises and kitchen are outdated and urgently need renovation and maintance. The proximity to the tram and the parking spaces right in front of the building are a great advantage.
Les personnes de l’accueil sont hyper accueillantes et toujours prêtes à aider. Les espaces communs sont bien, surtout la cuisine qui contient beaucoup d’ustensiles
I had to check out at three in the morning and I informed the staff at desk to tell the night staff to expect it. This grumpy old santa looking dude scolded me “YOU NEED TO BRING BACK EVERYTHING WE GAVE YOU!”. I have mere minutes to catch the Trolly in the middle of the night but ok, I go get them. He carefully took the linens from me and then dramatically drops it them on the floor. Takes the key and says nicely “ok you’re good”. There are some serious issues with cleanliness of the b...
