Location is perfect and nice that you can sit outside on the porch, all around the living room. The owner is friendly, but has some humor that was not my taste. You can only lock the room with the key from the outside. Owner warns you for it, because you can lock yourself in due to that. So I left it un-locked which was fine because it felt very safe. The location is a bit old and the matresses we bad. Perfect for 1 night, to be around the corner to go to the waitomo Caves.
Very welcoming and homy! Would definitely stay again!
Nice hostel in a great location and with amazing facilities. The dorm rooms were pretty basic but did the job. The communal areas were really great and they had animals (horses, dogs, pigs etc) around that you could go say hi to! Really appreciated Dave coming to pick us up because our bus didn’t drop us off at the hostel and staff were super accommodating to our needs.
Stunning place to stay with the best staff set in the hills. Beautiful
Het was een heel gezellig hostel. De meneer aan de balie heeft ons goed geholpen, ook met fijne tips.
Es fühlte sich wie Urlaub an 🥰
Close to the waitomo Caves so good for 1 night. The matress was pretty bad and i didn’t like all the old sofa’s that didn’t look very clean. But there was a nice and social atmosphere, easy to get to know new people. Kitchen and toilets were very clean!
We loved our stay here! The atmosphere was excellent, the kitchen is probably the best equipped and clean kitchen I’ve come across in a hostel! The swimming pool and tennis court were totally not necessities but definitely fun additions. The location is perfect for any Waitomo Cave tours too. Ample showers too! Only small challenge was that my bunk’s slats were wire so it wasn’t super comfy as my mattress sunk, but the other bunks had more stable slats that seemed more comfy.
Een aanrader! leuke hostel, aardige mensen, leuke plek. Het stapelbed was wat wiebelig, enige minpunt (vooral als je onder ligt).
Junohall is an amazing hostel - the staff are lovely, the views are amazing and it has everything you need. The swimming pool and tennis court were also a luxury for a hostel. Would 10/10 recommend
We had the best stay here. The manager was so kind and lovely. They had the cutest farm animals with the friendliest dog George. Fed lambs and played tennis with surrounding horses and deers! The most Loving and homely atmosphere, big bbq and stunning views. Couldn’t recommend enough. Wish could go back. Also right opposite booking reception for waitomo caves.
A very well kept friendly and out of the way hostel, George very much helped us around the place. Everywhere was clean, even had a lift to and from the bus stop which was very kind. Feeding the lambs was an added bonus. The whole place felt homely and nice to come back to after a busy day.
very clean room, bathroom and kitchen, the kitchen was also well equipped. Lovely animal around!
We were in a private room that only locked from the outside and was next to the exterior door that didn't lock. The wifi also didn't reach our room so it felt unsafe.
Fantastic!
The staff was very friendly. There is a very welcoming adorable dog in the hostel which I loved, and animals around the hostel. Facilities were very clean and well maintained. Only thing that was downside was that the bed mattress was too soft to sleep and could feel the frame so it was quite uncomfortable when sleeping.
The receptionist was so nice and helpful. She showed us around the hostel, told us where to go to get a view of the mountain and let us borrow the phone to make some calls.
Generally exactly according to my requirements. The mattresses are ancient.
Very nice place to stay! The bathrooms and toilets were clean and the beds were comfortable. Amazing atmosphere with very friendly owner and animals just outside. Nice pool and views of mountains.
Really lovely, friendly, welcoming place to stay. I was only there one night but would highly recommend. About 5 mins drive to the caves. Only negative would be the mattress was a little old and you could feel the bed slats, but I still slept well. A really big well stocked kitchen and a lovely lounge too.
