wouldn't recommend to go there
Completely deceptive “dorm room”. It’s an open air attic on top of a restaurant. No walls, only a tin roof. Completely exposed to the jungle, with single man tents on some mattresses as protection from all the biting insects. No way to get peace during restaurant open hours. There’s no overhead light so you’re relying on a flash light. The tent is claustrophobic and not breathable with the 30 degree heat. The location is in a murky corner of the river so not suitable for swimming. STA...
“Hostel”’accommodations are misleading. I was sleeping in a tent in the attic with the room fully open to the outside. Found a tarantula in both the sleeping area on the bed & the showers. The showers only had cold water and there is no A/C which wouldn’t usually be a problem but the fans were no help when sleeping in a tent. No lockers to lock up your stuff and your right above the restaurant so you hear everything. Food was good but a bit overpriced and owner was nice.
I loved this hostel, wish I could have stayed longer! One of the real highlights of my trip. The food was great and swimming in the river and watching the world go by was great. Thanks for a great stay, hope to be back one day!
Personally I liked this place a lot! The owner is so nice ans gave us great suggestions on things to do. The food is also amazing - a bit on the more expensive side, but very reasonable considering the quality and the fact you’re on a river. It’s not the place to meet a lot of people, but if you’re travelling with someone, it’s an amazing place to chill and explore Rio Dulce from.
Liesel is such an enjoyable host at her property, which is part backpacker hostel, part inn, and part fine dining restaurant. The food is very good. The only challenge is finding a boat from Rio Dulce to the hostel thatwont rip you off. Returning to town, Liesel called a boat for me which was only 25 GTQ.
Very creepy lady working there, tried to charge us way more than we ordered and didn’t even apologized. Food is way too overpriced for what you get. Cabins need upgrading and a deep clean, it reeks. Location is good, it has potential.
Super hostel !
Unfortunately we found this place to be expensive like a lot of the other reviews are saying. We ended up kayaking over to a different place for dinner every night because the minimum for a dinner at dreamcatcher is 145Q. However the kayak over was really nice and less than 5 minutes. There was also alottt of mosquitoes. It was hard to sit and enjoy yourself without lathering up in bug spray first. The place itself is beautiful and the room was really nice with A/C and the owner is very friendly
The woman of the hostel was suuuper nice and I really enjoyed my stay!
Place is lovely. The food is amazing and the woman who owns it is lovely too, so are all the staff. The only issue was the extra charge of £10 per night to have the air con on when the rooms were very hot. Gorgeous place though.
Simply beautiful place to stay. The room, the restaurant, the staff, the thunder and lightening, the howler monkeys. It was dreamy. Only bad thing was the sand flies (not Dreamcatchers fault) just make sure to wear insect repellent (preferably DEET) or you may get some nasty bites. Oh, and the pets were gorgeous too! 😊
Incredibly beautiful and peaceful! You have to take a private boat from the port, if you call the hostel they will pick you up (25q). The food there is exceptional, but it is the only option since there’s no public kitchen. The owner was very kind and helpful! You have access to swim/ kayak in the river straight from the rooms. Livingston tours are available through reception where they conveniently pick you up at the hostel.
Good * what a lovey location. Rather isolated. Chill, relaxing vibes. * there are only like 5 or 6 rooms * staff is helpful and nice * AC may or may not be available Bad * food is very expensive (breakfast is Q.85, dinner at a minimum is Q.145, plus a mandatory/hidden tip of 10%) * because you are in the jungle, you have to keep all your food in the restaurant’s fridge * if you are looking for a party, this isn’t the place (I wasn’t, the chill vibes were great, and a great aes...
Had a constant feeling of beeing locked up.
