Cambridge Lodge Budget Hostel

Staff was really caring and supportive, accomodating for late check outs. The low rating is regarding the bed. It was impossible to sleep on the mattress with the wires - and yep I’ve been sleeping in hostels for years and understand the value for money. May have been one night of bad luck, but honestly could not get an hour of sleep in.

The hostel is in a very good position, is very easy to use the public transport. The owner and the staff is very friendly and ready to help you in every situation. I advise as a guest!

Kind of an eary atmosphere overall but good basic facilities

Was sexually harassed and had to get the police involved. Another hostel guest (35-40 year old man) asked me to suck his d**k. I felt extremely unsafe as there was nobody else around at the time of the incident. These men were intoxicated and smoking in the common area. I booked a female dorm room, but was notified last minute that I had been put in a double room, thinking it would be another woman, but it was a man. It is not right to bunk a solo female traveller in a room alone with a man.

We had cockroaches in our room and fridge.

I was grateful that a staff member was able to arrange a late check in when I missed my flight up from Melbourne. But entering the hostel I was surprised to find the door to my room opened without needing a key. It was directly next to the front entrance, and as there were no lockers or any storage areas in the room, I just had to hope no one ducked in to steal my bag while I was sleeping. Or trying to sleep, that was the most uncomfortable mattress I've slept on in over a decade of backpacking.

Leider war das Hostel überall total dreckig. In der Küche gab es überall Kakerlaken. Da das Hostel aus zwei Häusern besteht, hat man sich im Vordergebäude wie ausgesetzt gefühlt. Die Menschen dort haben alles dreckig hinterlassen und man hatte nicht das Gefühl, dass es von jemandem geputzt wurde (z.B. Toiletten/Bad oder Küche). Not like a real hostel where you can meet other backpackers and travellers. Seems like the people who here live are workers and live longer there.

I had a very good stay at this hostel. I was upgraded to a private room for no extra cost. the hostel was very clean also and there is parking there I left my car there overnight and it was no problem. very conveniently located near Newtown also.

Gut gelegen 5 Min zur Bahn 20 Min. zum Flughafen. Nicht sehr sauber, was aber an den Gästen zum großen Teil liegt. Küche ok. Es gibt eine sehr schöne Terasse. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

I have no complaints about the reception; Cathy was super lovely and showed me around the place, which was never something a hostel manager has done for me before. The hostel does not look like the pictures at all. The four-person shared room was super warm, although clean. I found the overall vibe of the guests was not very safe and it felt more like a hostel people live in than a hostel full of travelers. I would recommend this hostel if you're in a group or if you're in a private room.

Die Unterkunft war nicht sehr sauber. Die Einrichtung war sehr alt und die Betten waren nicht bequem. Ich konnte jede Feder der Matratze spüren. Das einzig gute war das Personal. Sie waren sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Great value for money atmosphere is good as well

This was a very dodgy hostel. From the moment we walked in the people staying in the hostel were very dodgy!

The manager is lovely, she was so kind and helped us with everything, thanks a lot.

There was no one and I waited for 30 min before someone came to open the door. Overall It was good and quiet hostel closet to the station. If I pass through Sydney I’ll come back here.

Good budget choice for a night stay. Had what we needed. Only given a thin blanket to sleep with though so it was a pretty cold night, even with the oil heater.

Located about 15 minutes by train from Circular Quay, in the nice village Stanmore. The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was clean and easy to find from the train station, about 5 blocks. The facility is dated yet clean, and everything works as expected. It’s a budget accommodation and I was lucky to find it.
