Coogee Beach House

This place was incredibly disappointing. While the location is convenient the hostel itself is pretty rundown. The rooms don’t have ac which is outrageous considering the price. There’s not so much as a ceiling fan either, just a couple cheap desk fans which do nothing all. The front door never seemed to lock at night which means pretty much anyone can just walk in off the street. There’s only a few bathrooms/showers for the entire location so using them is a pain.

Great stay and location was excellent. Walking distance to beach, local shops and restaurants and transport. Highly recommend.

The staff and people staying at the hostel are so lovely but it is very run down (e.g. running water doesn’t work in some of the bathrooms). Quite expensive for what you get but the location is great!

Owner needs to put some money back into facility. Invest in air conditioning so you don’t need to keep window open that faces extremely busy and loud road. Faucets broke or leaking are easy fixes as well as shower curtain to keep water from shower away from your clothe as well as better placement and more hooks to hang your clothes.

Porte d’entrée qui ferme à peine. Personne a l’accueil pour faire le check in , les clés sont simplement déposées dans une enveloppe à l’entrée donc tout le monde peut les prendre. La propreté de la chambre et des communs ( cuisine ) est vraiment à revoir. La literie est quant elle a de bonne qualité. Je ne retournerai pas dans cet établissement.

The location is perfect, just steps away from Coogee Beach. The bed was super comfortable, my room is quiet and I slept like a baby. Check-in and check-out were a breeze - so easy and hassle-free. The price was totally worth it, especially with breakfast included. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. I'd definitely recommend Coogee Beach House to anyone looking for a great stay in the area.

Great stay! Just a minute walk to the beach, comfortable bed, clean rooms, they got blanket and heater in the room which is great since it’s winter now. I get to enjoy free breakfast too. Their common bathrooms are maintained and fresh. The staffs are friendly and accommodating. Definitely coming back.

During my stay here my backpack was vandalized and there were issues with the bedroom sockets constantly being turned off resulting in issues with wake up alarms and the convenience of having a fully charged phone ready for the following day. I have an osprey backpack which I’m confident are superior quality and my missing chest strap was found suspiciously snapped and unusable which I find slightly odd.

This is the first (and so far last) decent hostel I’ve stayed in, in Aus; Great staff and not overcrowded but still social

The bathrooms were really dirty. The kitchen was ok. The dorms were most ofc I do the time vets messy because you have no space were you can put it. It was near the beach which was good. The people were strange

Très bon séjour passé dans cette maison! Elle était très calme et peu animée lorsque j’y étais, mais ça ne m’a pas empêché de rencontrer du monde et d’y faire quelques soirées calmes à discuter ! La plage est à 2min à pied, c’est l’endroit parfait pour se ressourcer !

The hostel was not clean at all. I had the idea that the sheets of my bed hadn’t been changed for ages and there was a smell in the room. The front door wasn’t locked at nighttime and everyone could walk in and reception closed at 10pm. Also the bathrooms were outdated. One of the showers broke and couldn’t and got water was coming out of it during the whole night. In the bathrooms the sinks didn’t work and there were no facilities to dry your hands after washing. The kitchen was not clean. When you wanted to get in, you had to pass an alcoholic who wanted to drink with you. The people who checked in are nice, but not very social. But it is right next to the beach, that’s really nice

Location: Amazing - steps from Coogee Beach and lots of restaurants around the corner. Staff: The staff works EXTREMELY hard. They were very friendly and constantly tidying up the place. Atmosphere: It’s outdated, not conducive for shared groups of people (the people long term staying are disgusting - I’m talking clothes everywhere, sanitation napkin wrappers on the floor)…it was embarrassing to witness. It’s also very dark in there, which doesn’t help with the whole musty vibe going...

This hostel provides a good bed and good location (near Coogee beach, not the city center). Nothing else. The place looks nothing like the photos and is super dirty. It looks like a cheap hotel, with not much security (the door is open all times, even when the reception is closed) and zero vibe. If you simply want a cheap bed, this is for you. If you are in any way looking for a hostel, do not go.

* booked a 4-bedroom dorm, was given a 6-bedroom dorm with no offer to reimburse us the difference in cost. We were given one key for the two of us - which made it very difficult if we both wanted to use the bathroom at the same time. Facilities were poor - some of the toilets had taps that didn't turn on, the tables were sticky and dirty, there were no powerpoints anywhere near any of the beds + no bins in the bedrooms.
