Okay place of a hostel, wouldn’t call it a lodge. It was clean and facilities were okay. Only real improvement point is the old sweaty smell that we had it the room and the food smell of the kitchen that filled the whole place. Okay for a night maybe 2.
Comfy room and well stocked amenities, good sized kitchen
What a lovely place. The ambience is very homely, the rooms spacious and there are single beds instead of bunk beds. Big kitchen. Lovely fireplace with sofas. Hanmer springs are in walking distance.
Great warm, clean accommodation. Showers hot. Didn't use facilities as we were only there for 1 night but everything looked great

We really enjoyed our stay at Kakapo Lodge. The room was clean and tidy and felt like a hotel. The staff were super lovely and welcoming. The hot pools are a short walk away. We were in a bikepacking trip and they had a spot for us to park our bikes. I will absolutely stay here again!

Great hostel, near everything in Hanmer Springs. All the facilities were great. But there was little to no atmosphere when I was there

Couldn’t have asked for a better stay here. The atmosphere was very relaxed, comfy bed, everywhere was exceptionally clean, and close to everything in town as well. Thanks!
Eine super Lage, sehr freundliches Personal und äußerst sauber. Nette Atmosphäre und unten und oben Außensitzplätze. Wir haben super geschlafen (nicht zu weiche Matratzen) und uns sehr wohl gefühlt.
.. ganz tolles Hostel. Beste und sauberste Küchenausstattung, die ich bisher gesehen habe. Superschöne Aufenthaltsräume — drinnen und draussen. Gute Betten und ausreichend Platz in den Zimmern. Die Lage ist bestens — in kurzer Laufnähe u den Thermal Pools.

What a great hostel! We had a lovely quiet room with private en suite. Everything was beautifully clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Highly recommend!
Nice hostel, only a couple of minutes walk to the springs and shops. Lounge with cosy fire place.

Great place in terms of facilities and location. Weird vibe at the hostel with people rarely talking. Hostel staff wake you up at early hours to change the beds for the next people
We really enjoyed our stay at YHA. The hostels was clean, lovely and the kitchen fully equipped with all kitchen utensils. High value for money!
This hostel is right only a five minute walk from Hamner Springs and therefore a great location. It was very quiet when I stayed there, no one else was in my four person dorm. I imagine it picks up in the summer. Good place to get a peaceful sleep, not for making friends.
