+ It seems very unassuming when you drive up, but once you’re thru the gate, it feels like home away from home. Every thing is clean, it’s a nice quiet spot to come back to at the end of the day. 10 min ride to west end, 20-30 mins to ferry/airport. Originally stayed for one night as I didn’t make it in time to take ferry to Utila the day I landed but I liked it so much that when I came back to Roatan the next week, I booked 2 more nights here! Mel (owner) has a wheel you spin and 10% of what you pay is donated to the place that you land on (woman’s health clinic, animal care etc). I thought that was really cool!

+ So glad I chose to stay here. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Such a relaxing vibe, just far enough away from the busy tourist area. Pool area and outdoor spaces are beautiful and well kept. Staff was very helpful in finding nearby activities and arranging outings. Will definitely return. One of my favorite hostels.

+ Die Gastmutter Mel hilft bei jedem Anliegen, egal ob Mietwagen, Taxitransfer zur Fähre, Tauchen oder Nachtschnorcheln, Sie hat alles für uns organisiert! Danke nochmals! Schönes, kleines Hostel, sehr gepflegt, kanadisch geführt!, gute Küche, es werden immer Themenabende angeboten, haben uns absolut wohl gefühlt! Es gibt gleich um die Ecke einen großen Supermarkt, prima zur Selbstversorgung, wenn Zimmer mit Kochgelenheit gebucht, ideal. Mit dem Collectivo kommt man gut nach West End für 1 Dollar pro Nase

- Das Interieur ist schon etwas älter, ist halt ein Hostel und kein Luxusresort!

+ It’s off the beaten path.

- I’m a smoker. I can understand not smoking in the rooms but the hostel provided only a small space outside to smoke and it was quite a walk from my dorm room.

+ The location is excellent, next to a grocery store, gym, a bar/restaurant (Pirates Den), close to beaches and a quick 5 minute drive by collectivo or taxi to West End. The owner (Mel) and all the staff are wonderful. It has a nice pool and on-site restaurant, and also a communal kitchen.

+ The room was clean enough and staff was kind and helpful. The wifi was ok.

- It felt far away from the beaches and I had to rely on the taxis to get everywhere. I had to go to the nearby cafe to work for the best wifi. The location is not by any stores or ATMs

- Hot water wasn’t working properly sometimes in my room. Mold in the bathroom shower which I’m allergic to. Loud sounds made by the piping in the walls.

+ The hostel is friendly and welcoming I stayed in the studio apartment which included private bathroom and separate kitchen. This was my 5th time at this hostel and I strongly recommend it. The driveway was rough due heavy rains before I arrived. I think most people use the bus or taxi. I like having a car so I can explore the island. Supermarket is very short walk The pool is very welcoming on hot days. I ate dinner in the dining hall twice. Both dinners were delicious I had the BBQ chicken and the homemade fish stew. A/C is available. I didn’t need it. Bed is comfortable and the little screened porch was delightful.Mel and her family are friendly and helpful. I love this place. Definitely will stay here again!
