Lovely quiet and beautiful place. Tom and Gwen are amazing, we had some lovely dinners with them and the others guests. Anna is a fantastic cook. And the dogs are a great addition to the crew. The beach has this stunning view. Palm trees and sand for as far as you can see and the sunset is just perfect. We will come back one day for sure!
Swiss Toilets!
This is a fantastic hostel managed by Tom and Gwen who do an amazing job at making you feel welcome and are so helpful. Plenty of hammock time. Anna the cook provides great tasty breakfasts and family dinners. A highlight of my trip after a year of travelling through South / Central America.
One of our favorite places so far ! We had such a great time at the rancho. The cabañas are super cute, and we loved the open shower where you can see the stars at night. We were so close to the beach, it's dreamy ! I took my first class of surf and it was Ideal as the Beach is empty. for a beginner it is amazing. The breakfast and dinner was so good and we were a wonderful group, having a good time, speaking and laughing every evening. The place is so chill and everyone is super nice 🌺🌊
very nice place in a qiete area. The couple that manages the camp is super friendly and motivated!
Loved my stay
Rancho Esperanza has been one of our favourite stops in a three month trip. Graham was a perfect host, Ana's food is honestly some of the most delicious we've eaten in Central America and Ever and their daughter Lenamara were absolutely lovely. Kayaking on the estuary at night and releasing turtles on the estuary with Ramón are two of my favourite experiences. I'd also highly recommend a cooking class with Ana and a community tour with Ever (if you speak Spanish) or Ramon if you don't.
We had the best time staying here and extended our stay not wanting to leave. Super straightforward to get to after doing the boat from El Salvador. The food is delicious and the family style dinners every night were so lovely. Graham was great, lots of good info and running a great place. Wish we could go back already!
We had a really good time at Rancho Esperanza. The beach is right next to the hostel where you can go swimming or enjoy the beautiful sunsets. The hostal is a place to chill, eat good fish, go on tours with the locals and do yoga for yourself. We were looking for an affordable hostel right on the beach and Rancho Esperanza was the perfect choice.
We got to know the mosquitoes early on and had no problems getting nets for the beds. When we got to our room, we were given a small hut instead of a dorm as we were the only guests, which was great. Unfortunately, the pillows had mold stains and we also found dead bedbugs. My mattress was practically lying directly on the hard wood. Fans are necessary but then there are no more sockets available. The staff were constantly helpful and and was super kind. I would come back.
Great location and nice staff. However, offered food is limited in options and way overpriced. Pictures don't quite correspond to current state (no books in the common area, run down sanitary facilities). Cleanlines and amount of lamps in showers and toilets needs to be improved. There were hardly any people staying there when I was so it wasn't social at all
I loved my stay at Rancho Esperanza. Amara was a wonderful and thoughtful hostess who goes out of her way to be helpful. They offer a variety of tours and activities that support the local community, and Ana the cook makes some of the best breakfasts (and dinners) in Nicaragua. Due to an overbooking I was lucky enough to get upgraded to a casita and it was wonderful. Very peaceful, the beach is gorgeous and I could easily have stayed here for much longer than 3 nights! Perfect place to relax.
We really enjoyed rancho esperanza. the staff, beach side location, activities and the food were all really good! perfect retreat away from the hustle and bustle. the only two things I didn't love were the price of the food vs nearby restaurants ($6/7 for dinner vs $3/4 in the nearby restaurants) and the toilets needed to be checked a bit more as they were full at points. other than that, loved it here. I'd definitely come back!
I loved my time at rancho esperanza (we actually ended up extending our stay). The staffstaff were very accommodating. The activities were very fun (we did fishing and surfing - for the fishing trip the hotel staff cooked our catch for us to eat at dinner! There is also a bioluminesence tour which we did not have time for but sounded very cool. It is a relaxing space. We stayed in a private cabin and found it comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful and gave us a lift from the intersection.
Everything you could ever want for a “remote” and beautiful hostel on the ocean. Imara and Fran are lovely hosts and so keen to help with anything you need. The facilities are off grid but charming and adds to the experience. Food is plentiful, well priced, and delicious.
basic setup but has everthing needed for a short stay. beautiful location
We had a wonderful time in Rancho Esperanza. The place is a little piece of paradise. The host is so kind and attractive. Diner and breakfast are so delicious. Hostel recommended !
