Just finished my stay of 3 nights and if I wasn’t flying home tomorrow I would stay longer. This has been my best stay by far in Guatemala and I will recommend it to everyone. The hostel is within a families home and gives a first hand look at real life in Guatemala. Everyone is super kind and helpful and jumped at the opportunity to help me whenever I needed it from taking me for the best food in town, helping me book things, teaching me Spanish and so on. BOOK THIS HOSTEL NOW YOU WONT REGRET
We loved our stay here, Jaime is lovely and super helpful. This hostel is connected to his home so feels like a very authentic experience. The neighborhood is very safe and an easy cheap bus into the centre. Kitchen for cooking but also delicious food for a small extra cost.
Yo this place is dope. A double edged sword location wise because its far from the centre, easily accessible by , just a bit of a mission. On the other hand its a lot quieter and the centre of Coban is really not that great so pros and cons. Worth it for the staff, such nice people and my man Jaime sorted me out with a sweet deal on a room to match the hostelworld price. Has everything you need, food if you want it, a pila for laundry, lovely shower. Felt very secure and looked after. Worth it.
Cobán meant to be a transfer place for us to Semuc Champey but we stayed longer here and it was because of this place mainly (although we liked Cobán as well). If you come here a really nice family will accomodate you. It felt like a really authentic experience because we could see how a family lives and they gave us the opportunity to try multiple authentic foods/drinks (the breakfast was the most delicious). We could speak a lot specifically with Jaime about the culture and places in Guatema...
Jaime was so helpful, he made my trip there amazing!
Loved it!! So welcoming and a great price
Heel leuke authentieke locatie in eenvoudige buurt. Familie die er woont is erg aardig. De taxidienst van de gastheer brengt je overal naar toe voor minder dan de normale taxi’s. Je moet wel van eenvoud houden en het bed is een simpel 10cm dik matras.
I loved staying here. Clean, quiet, a great experience, different to a normal hostel. This is a couple of rooms in a family home. They're very welcoming, helpful and friendly. They were always telling me about local events. It's a more authentic experience, not touristy. It's 15 minute drive from downtown. There's very small shops nearby for snacks and a popular bus stop. They can be your taxi. You can do Spanish lessons and eat meals with the family.
A great value for m
If you want to live with a local family, you have to go there. You will have your own bedroom with locker and bathroom. The place is safe. You have a nice view on the upper streets. You can go directly to the center or the bus station of Telpatepe (Lanquin, Guate) with minibuses at 100m. The family is really nice.
Good value for money, not sure there was anywhere to lock your valuables. Food was good
Best kitchen I had in a hostel in Guatemala so far. Well equipped, clean and everything works. Staff is super friendly and knows how to get to exciting places. Atmosphere is open and fun. The family also runs A Tortilla stand and a tienda, therefore a delicous dinner can be bought directly at the hostel. Overall amazing place.
I really enjoyed my stay, evertyhing was clean, I got coffee offered in the morning, all my questions were answeared, safe and nice area, highly reccomened ! if I ever go back to Coban I would go back here !
Very simple but nice. Just in the backyard of the family living here. You get here by taking a bus from the center in the direction of "la esperanca" and get of at the last stop. It's only a hundred meters from the hostel.
Perfect for getting off the gringo trail and seeing real Guatamala. Great location for visiting lots of places including the biotopo del Quetzal, orquigonia, coffee tour, Cobán city - all by local bus. The area felt really safe and the locals were always there to point me in the right direction. The host is really friendly and I enjoyed our conversations about Guatamala. You can eat breakfast at the hostel for Q15 and dinner for Q20. The facilities are basic but it's worth it for the experience...
I had a great time! Friendly staff and a rustic, authentic, Guatemalan experience. This is a small hostel, not a party hostel, and you're effectively living with a family. It's off the beaten path, and it's a different experience from all other hostels I've stayed at. Within two blocks there are several fruit & vegetable shops, tacquerias, a bakery and a pharmacy, as well as a little convenience store at the hostel itself.
Welcoming family home. This is in a family complex, so you get a very authentic home feel, but your own entrance from outside. This is a place for more experienced travellers due to the look of the neighborhood. I felt quite safe, but I'm not sure everyone would. Amazing home cooked meals provided for Q15. Tienda and taquería attached. Private room had clean sheets, bathroom, wifi, locking door, power plugs. One of the most unique stays I've had, worth a stop if going to Lanquin.
