Check in was a nightmare & to pay you have to send in a video of yourself putting money into a cash box? There is also ONLY one bathroom for all customers
Property was okay. It was basic but the fact there was only one bathroom was a bit of an issue. There is no reception or person onsite, but the WhatsApp person was helpful and is a local. Check-in is okay but quite a few hops to hump through
There is no staff, when I asked to extend on whatsapp (their way of communicating) they responded really wierd and sort of angry, got absurd and private (religion and love). Didn't want to extend me. They told me not to try and book any of their hostels, as they dont want rude people trying to tell them how to run their buisness. I actually didn't feel safe there after the argument online....
Good location. But overall an uncomfortable hostel. Upon entering you're greeted with a barrage of papers on the wall. Easily 10 papers stating how much a room cost, what the wifi is, how to pay, how to pay again, disclaimers,... But when i wanted to check-in I had to rely on 2 other guests who went through the check-in ordeal before. There is no staff to help or welcome you. Rooms are dirty, dusty. The wooden floor is literally taped together and there's ants crawling in the corners. The locat...
self checkin and i was the only one there so a bit weird, but i guess thats brunei for you, all facilities were good
Good location but no reception, you have to pay for bottom bed/towel, floors are uneven, dorm room is super crammed and the atmosphere is overall bad Paid 13.60$ and lady said she’ll give the change back “later” and never got it
Fantastic hostel, I highly recommend it. It's in a great location for visiting tourist attractions. It's clean and you feel right at home. Thank you so much, Hostel!
it's not as bad as it seems. you don't meet with the receptionist, you just have to put your money in a box and send a video with it. be sure to have a fixed amount, I don't think you get change. there is a common area with a few chairs and tables with view to the street, filtered water for free, wifi works fine, you could work in the common area. there is only one toilet but there were also very few people so it wasn't an issue for me. the blankets are too small, I'm 1.78m and it was too short
Really good hostel, central, friendly staff
AVOID. Quite possibly the worst of the 50+ hostels i have stayed in. Arrived to the hostel having not been told that there’s was no water and that i had to go to the other hostel across the city. Owner was demanding I pay for the 3 nights even though i wasn’t sure i wanted to stay 3 nights in this new location. No sorrys or anything just cared about getting the payment from me asap. Moved to the original hostel the next day only to have to move back to the other a day later due to a power cu...
The location of this hostel is good. Walking distance from main attractions. That’s the only positive thing I can think of. No Customer service. They’ll only reply about money only. No one will check you in/ out since there’s no receptionist always. You’ll drop your payment on a safety box and they will not bother to give you your change. It’s just a small amount but still annoying. The bed is probably the worst hostel bed I’ve exp. Only one toilet for everyone and it’s disgusting h...
This hostel is cheap. And in a good location. And that's all that's going for it. Beds are possibly the worst I've ever slept in at a hostel, one bathroom including a shower for 30 people is insane - if someone is showering you cannot use the toilet! Whole place is very poorly managed, noboody was around for check-in when we arrived so a bunch of us had to just sit there for half an hour until we got a number to call. Looks like someone made a hostel in the cheapest way possible...
Great location, slap-bang in the middle of downtown Bandar, and very helpful staff. Honestly no idea why the ratings are this low. The one issue is the single toilet/shower for the entire (albeit small) hostel, and there is really no atmosphere to speak of.
The average ratings reflect the property: average. The location is absolutely perfect it’s right in the centre very close to the main mosque, and the staff are all helpful and friendly. Just one shower/toilet and they’re in the same room for the entire property, so that’s a nuisance. Rooms were okay nothing incredible and basically no atmosphere, but I don’t think there’s a hostel in Brunei with atmosphere. Would stay here again if I went back to BSB but don’t expect a social haven.
Rarely any toilet paper, ants everywhere, never interacted with any staff. WiFi was good and free filtered water too.
Very basic hostel, staff weren’t very present over the stay and not so helpful. Okay to stay for a few days, especially with the lack of other hostels in the area. Met some nice people there though. One bathroom for everyone isn’t very good though
Équipe sur place très aimable mais on ne peut pas en dire autant du chef ! La douche marche une fois sur deux…
A simple/basic hostel which is a convenient location. The staff were friendly and the hostel itself was clean, tidy and safe. Ideal for a short trip in Brunei
TLDR: Better than expected, but missing crucial things. Based on the comments, I expected a dark place with insects looming around. It is not. You can book it. The place is quite cozy, the dorms are pretty and clean and the chilling zone is quite nice. Now, the bad things: - One toilet/shower for entire hostel. - No water at evenings. - Charge extra for any add on (towel, locker, etc). - Staff friendly but knew nothing about the city - A bit security freaks (door locked from inside at night)
