YHA Ngong Ping SG Davis Youth Hostel

+ The staff was very helpful

- The distance is not as accurate as advertised, The distance was supposed to be within 5 miles of the airport, but was farther than 25 miles

+ Good location to 鳳凰山山頂

- 床褥床被枕頭

+ I like that it was cheap and view was great.

- But the facilities not well maintained and location quite deserted . Road is narrow.

+ Very nice bus terminal and hiking trail to Peak. Easy to hop onto a bus to go other trails and places. Really peaceful surroundings in the morning.

- Very dark once sun sets. Last bus back to terminal is quite early (esp from HK main island). If you miss the bus, very troublesome to get to the hostel. Nearby F&B places close around 5:30pm so bring or prepare your own food.

+ DIY-spirit is strong here, if you are picky or used to only high class hotels, this might not be the place for you.. But for us it worked well and the location is beautiful, no doubt and stuff was very kind and polite, even when we were a little lost about everything.

- Maybe assemble few lights outside so it's nicer to enjoy evening there? Shared kitchen was a little dirty..

+ Toilet and Kitchen facilities expected of a youth hostel

- Double Bed is too large, against the wall so its difficult to fit the sheet on

- The dining area is used as a storage room and very messy. Overall unpleasant looking building and garden. The 4-person tent costs as much as a hotel room in central hk, but is very basic with floor mattresses. Place has great potential, but hardly utilized.

- Poor wifi which was an issue, since there was no cellular signal at all (for my network) due to the remote location.
