Great spot out the front of the main break at Popoyo, awesome for sunset and good was good too, breaky included in was yum! Dorm was great and clean, very open though but that’s sweet too! Awesome times
Great vibe, best location, super kind people!
You couldn’t Ask for a better location/view. Nice place and welcoming staff. I will visit again at some point.
Had an awesome stay at Finca Popoyo Surf Hostel. The location is about as good as it gets—just steps from main break. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always happy to help with anything or just chat. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free, which made the whole experience even more relaxing. If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with prime access to great surf, this place is a no-brainer.
Finca Popoyo is such a beautiful place to unwind, relax, and enjoy the beauty that this area has to offer. The dorms are spacious, guarded 24/7 by security (I felt so safe as a solo female), and the temp stays cool at night. There’s nothing better than waking up and having a coffee overlooking Popoyo main. They have the best location - no other hostels are anywhere near Popoyo main break. The staff is lovely, and the cleaners even asked if I would like to have my laundry washed. I’ll be bac...
12/10 hostel experience. Incredible sunset, great waves, nice restaurant, the clean beds, and a good nights rest. Some of the nicest staff of any hostel experience I’ve had. An absolute must stay.
The room is very dusty and the sheets are constantly dirty because of it. Nobody cleans the bathrooms and there’s always something sitting in the toilet. Nobody tells you that you have breakfast included so a lot of people were going out and buying breakfast every morning. They didn’t have my reservation when I checked in and still didn’t know who I was when I checked out and looked baffled and upset by me when I tried to do both. Not worth the money. Good location and bar, but anybody can...
really like This place location is perfect for surfing and sunsets u just have to walk down the stairs to go for the main spot the more crowded area is a 6 min walk on the beach you can check the waves by just leaving the dorm or from the terrace (dorm was cool I got a queen size mattress and fan right next to me) board rental is next to the finca prices in the restaurant are similar to other hostels breakfast was pretty good here
THIS PLACE IS A DREAM. I’m almost hesitant to give up the secret of its beauty. Huge dorm room makes for solid pals immediately. Steps away from the beach good bar and (at least then I was here) waves were huge. It’s a wonderful walk along the beach to other restaurants or but I ask you this “why leave???”. Staff was amazing. Beer is cold and the food great. I shall return. Or yes. I shall return!
I had a great stay at Finca. The property was comfortable, and relaxing as well as being right infront of main break to easily watch the surf. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always happy to help and making us feel welcome. Would definitely stay again.
Good hostel, the restaurant closes at 18.00 so you have to go somewhere else for dinner. The only restaurants are a walk across a river if you don’t have a car or motorbike. Good vibe during the day and right on the beach. It’s much cheaper to book direct than through hostelworld.
-dorm was nice, big beds, big room, many ventilators -location nice for surfing -ca 20min walk to the next restaurant, 35mins to a store -big balcony with hammocks, cool view from the dorm -mosquito net on the doors -lockers but doors are not locked during the night -bar right next to it with a pool table, the kitchen is only open until 2pm -no kitchen (maybe temporarily) even though it was declared -2 showers&toilets generally clean -not organized with when and how much to pay
- no restaurants nearby, hostel/bar restaurant closes at 6pm. - 10-15min walk to the popoyo city, bars, restaurants - unfriendly staff, especially the guy behind the bar. (after 5 min of talking and with the help of a local i was ALLOWED to have jalapenos for my burger [he said it‘s not possible and of course i had to pay extra. about 1,5$ for jalapenos???!!!]) - no hostal community, only pro surfer during the day - moved to a different hostal after 2 days (the barrell) - can NOT recommend thi...
WORST backpack we’ve been in. - Toilets are constantly blocked - Showers are more than disgusting - They charge you 2,5$ to use the kitchen for 2 people ( same as the one from the restaurant so you can’t use it during the day). It is REPELLING! Moldy smell and greasy plates, we have never seen a kitchen that dirty in all the backpacks we’ve been, and it’s the restaurant kitchen!!!! ( do not eat at this place) - Wasps everywhere in the dormitory, making nests in every corner. - It’s ...
Unlike some other reviews might suggest: This is a great place. Objectively: Cheap and the best location for surf (it is right next to Popoyo point break, the best surf spot within at least 10 km). Other hostels are further away, although not that much. Subjectively: Really nice staff. All Nicaraguan, which makes it definitely more authentic than most other places in the area and it is really good for your Spanish. Don't pay attention to the other reviews and go check it out:)
