Karma Backpackers

Loved it!

We had a lovely stay at this backpackers! Vera was a great host and gave us good tips for where to explore in the area. We stayed in the family room over Easter weekend which was adequate for our needs.

Karma Hostel is simply lovely! Its great location makes it super convenient, and the incredibly friendly atmosphere truly feels like a home away from home. The owners give fantastic advice on local hikes, helping you make the most of your stay. Plus, the lovely dogs are always up for a play session, adding an extra touch of warmth. I would absolutely recommend this place and would love to come again. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!

Great friendly place. Vera Ann and Lucio are very friendly and informative- and give you maps/ access to guidebooks for exploring Golden Gate and Royal Natal national parks. There are a couple of good walks in Golden Gate which is 40minutes drive away and another one accessed from Witsiehoek lodge on the edge of Royal Natal which is slightly further away. We stayed 4 days and felt very at home. Thanks for the eggs and the lovely marmalade

Heerlijk om hier te verblijven, de eigenaren doen enorm hun best om je welkom te laten voelen. Verse eieren, warme kruik in bed en een heerlijk haardvuur. Hele lieve huisdieren. Fantastisch advies over wat er in de buurt te doen is.

Such a nice place, I would stay there longer because the vibe is so nice. You arrive a d you just feel at home, maybe like at your grandparents home, where everything is made out of love, starting from the delicious fruit jams! The are is really quite, a small village surrounded by nature. The lady will give you all the information you need for your hikes, she knows and she loves all the mountains around!

We had two great nights with Vera…she was so welcoming…we had some good chats and she gave us top tips for walking. Her jams are delicious and she sent us off with some fresh eggs. Thank you Vera. Xxx

Absolutely fantastic home stay & perfect place to disconnect surrounded by lovely animals and nature.

They were super nice with us! The owner gave us info about the Tugela falls hike and we had a nice talk. They also make their own jams and it is delicious! I only regret to not have spent more time there in the beautiful house and the dogs. I totally recommend to book in this lodge.

We had a very good stay at Karma backpackers! The host was very friendly and helped us a lot with the hikes. Never seen such an full equiped kitchen in a hostel. Also, she makes amazing marmalades :)

Staying at this hostel feels like staying with a good friend. Everything in the hostel more than deserves the highest score. I hesitated about the location. Kestell is a very sleepy, non-touristy, small town with a quaint supermarket. It does have one good restaurant (pizza, burgers, steak) with a pool table ;-). We liked the non-touristy (especially after a couple of hours in Clarence), the pool table and the strategic location: relatively close to Drakensbergen, Golden Gate and Jo’burg.
