This place isn’t expensive but it is a real dump. The rooms look nothing like the picture. It is not near the City center and it is a 30 minute walk from the City center. It is a very depressing place. The bathrooms were dirty. The showers had hot water but it was impossible to move or adjust the shower head. There were no other guests and no ambiance. However, as I said previously, it is cheap. It appeared safe enough but I wouldn’t walk around in the area after dark.
Pros: the breakfast and the hot water (we often had no water at all). The staff are very friendly. The breakfast is exceptional, with local specialties. There is also an inexpensive laundry service. Cons: incredibly dirty toilets, the doors don't close properly, some toilets never have paper. The upper toilets stink. The toilet lid falls on your back. Some of the people who live there permanently are very loud. 30 Min footwalk to the center…
The hostel staff was so lovely! One night we couldn’t catch a cab so one of the girls was kind enough to take us. We did have a couple water outages, but the staff has a way of fixing it, so you just need to let them know when it happens. Obv the hostel is a bit further out, but it was fairly safe to walk until like 10pm and afterwards we just took a cab, which wasn’t very expensive. The toilets and showers are rather basic, but totally doable.
It's far from the city center - about 30 minutes walking. On the positive side, it's an easy walk with good sidewalks and it's safe - people are out with kids and walking their dogs even at 10:30 PM. The bathrooms are really dirty and everything else is run down. There aren't enough toilets and they look like they haven't been cleaned in years. On top of that, there often wasn't any toilet paper. Finally , it appears to be also a boarding house because a bunch of locals hanging around.
I stayed for 4 nights for el dia de los muertos. It’s not the bad, 30min walk from the center, the room were clean and with a big locker for the backpacks. But the restrooms… were really gross , smelly and does not have hot water the mornings (don’t know why🤷♀️)
Me and my friends stayed in November for Día de Muertos and it was such a lovely experience. We booked quite last minute and at first were a bit disappointed with it being further out of town. However it was so great and the family who own the hostel got everyone involved in the activities around Día de Muertos. They took us all to a local market to buy things to make an ofrenda together and we watched the first night of the parade together. The family are so friendly and helpful!
Pro: * Easy route to the centre * Includes breakfast * Staff help ordering taxis * Some improvement such as lockers * Most staff are friendly Cons: * Bathroom - disgusting and unhygienic.Hot water not guaranteed. Twice there was no water.* Noise - mexican teenagers staying, woken early.* Private room is extremely expensive for what it is.* No care of customers safety. Left luggage in storage, Chucked out at 10pm with no charge on phone.
The bathrooms are a nightmare. Hardly any water coming out, super dirty, you can't close the door. They had a problem with my payment, now they're trying to charge twice without even talking to me.
We booked this hostel for dia de muertos (last available choice 2 months prior). We paid 55€ pperson/night (expensive in absolute). One room didnt have working electrical outlets, the towels didnt absorb water but just left lints on us and the facility looks like a jail. The bathrooms : either a cold shower or a shower heads directed at the wall so you have to stick to the wall to shower. We found glass on the floor. The door is so close to the toilet you cant close it AND sit. Terrible fauce...
The dormitory I stayed in was spacious, with a locker by the bed with electric outlet to charge mobiles. The breakfasts were ample and delicious. Although it is situated a little more than a kilometer from the center on a busy road, the dormitory was not affected by traffic noise. The owners are super nice and try to make your stay enjoyable.
