There was no running water the day I arrived but was fixed the next day also the windows wouldn’t fully close in my room so mosquito’s and a very noisy party could be heard until about 2AM. The hostel itself is lovely friendly staff and great breakfast also nice kitchen and areas to chill out. The rooms were really nice

A really pretty hostel right next to the lake. The beds were comfy and private. The AC in the rooms worked well. I didn’t find that there was any sort of social vibe but all the staff were lovely and really helpful. I didn’t love that the women’s bathrooms were very open.

Perfect hostel with a very good atmosphere. Not a party hostel but there is one directly opposite if needed. You can enter the party hostel for free any time. Lovely staff. Everting was really great and good location close to the lagoon. And even the 12 bedroom dorm doesn’t feel like 12 beds because of the half circular room shape

Great beds and a beautiful kitchen. The free breakfast was also amazing. The staff are friendly and it’s a very chill place. However, the parking the advertise is just street parking and while there are some nice relaxing vibes around the hostel, there is limited shade, the bathrooms aren’t particularly clean.

Coole Hostel mit tollem Vibe, für 1-2 Nächte voll gut! Positiv: gute Lage, Frühstück, nicer Vibe, sehr social obwohl kein Partyhostel, Fahrräder, gratis Laundry Service, Negativ: 12 Personen dorm muss man können, nur 2 Klos und eine Dusche für 12 Pers.

Nous avons passé une nuit dans la grande chambre. L’établissement est accueillant et le personnel (spécialement de nuit) est sympathique. Attention le logement se trouve à proximité d’un autre hostel qui propose des soirées assez tard.

This hostel is perfect if you want to rest and be next to the party hostels, the location is pretty central, the staff is very helpful, just some minor details with their shower and the breakfast is just basic, but if you’re looking to have a comfortable rest this is the place

I loved this hostel. Good breakfast, a FANTASTIC kitchen with sharp knives for those who like to prep their own meals. The 12 person room is semi circular with windows and doesn’t feel like it’s full. Great showers, perfect location, loved it. Only thing I’d note is that reception is not 24 hours so for those coming in before 9 or so, the gate is locked and you can’t drop your bags without a gate code. But message them ahead of time to arrange this! I know for next time lol.

Sehr schöne Einrichtung. Es ist kein Party-Hostel, dafür lernt man gesellig andere Reisende kennen (viele auch etwas älter). Also eher gemütlich. Gegenüber ist das Che Hostel - wenn man also Party mag, kann man einfach über die Strasse und hat Nachts trotzdem Ruhe. Das schönste Bett meiner Mexiko Reise.

Room feels so private, very well designed. You get free kayaking too which was fun - and close to Che hostel which has more of a party scene so you can dip in and out. Felt very safe here and staff were nice! You can also do laundry for £1-2 and they have washing lines!

The night receptionist was very friendly and helpful. But the next day, a man serving breakfast, a young lady at the front desk, and a tall, tattooed man (the owner) made racist and degrading comments about my girlfriend and me. They thought I didn't speak Spanish, and it was really unpleasant to see them mocking us. A guest's private life is none of their business. I respected the hostel's rules and even left a $10 tip for their dog. I definitely do not recommend it.

It has been one of the best hostel experiences I've had in Mexico, if not in General . Great staff, superb location, very friendly and quiet. And don't be put off by the "concept" of a 12-person dorm; thanks to the semicircular layout and the window front, you don't even feel like you're sleeping in a room with 12 people. Highly recommended for a stay in Bacalar.

Probably the best hostel I stayed at in Mexico. Clean bathrooms, nice showers, free breakfast, free bikes, free kayaks, cheap laundry. The list goes on. The staff were also amazing and helpful in every way!

Un endroit exceptionnel où j’aurais pu rester bien plus longtemps !!

Situé en plein cœur de bacalar proche du centre et de la lagune. Staf vraiment incroyable et arrangeant, des activités et sorties proposées ! Petit dej simple et efficace très bon. Dortoir plutôt confort et belle vue ! J’y ais passé 3 jours très agréable ! Ambiance vraiment très chill et un cadre magnifique !

Sehr schönes Hostel mit vielen tollen Extras wie Frühstück, Wäscheservice und der ein oder anderen Social Activity. Da es direkt neben dem Che liegt, wird es abends manchmal etwas lauter aber das hat mich nicht gestört. Tolle Zimmer und nettes Personal.

Elmar Hostel was a great place to stay! It was a walking distance from the center of town and felt safe. The amenities were all great!

Beautiful, great facilities & a good location. The free laundry, breakfast, and bikes were amazing! volunteers here were so friendly, & made you feel very welcome. Couple of things could improve it, eg better security (lockers not separated under the bed) & no toilet seats for the women’s dorm. It’s opposite Che so loud until midnight some days but nothing major. It’s ideal to stay somewhere chill, and go to Che for a drink to meet more people or their boat parties etc. Would highly recomm...
