Based on some reviews, I thought it might not be a good place to stay, but honestly, I was very pleasantly surprised. It’s a very peaceful place, the atmosphere is great, and I even made new friends. They also have a beach club where I rented a kayak and enjoyed the day. It’s not far from the lagoon and has everything you need nearby. What was described as a room was actually a very small hut that could only just fit my luggage in. There was space neither to stand nor walk. The lock fixing came away in my hand. The manager was absent. There were aggressive dogs next door, and loud music. Apart from that it was fine!

garbage hole on unpaved muddy road, patrolled by ferral dogs who incessantly bark. owners dog joins in! owner lives on property but never cleans. Ever! Dorm bathroom smells like a sewer. Hot water is a fiction. outer gate is never locked. Neighbours on both sides have no common courtesy whom go oit of their way to be loud and disruptive. And in closing, drum roll please.....The Owner Is A Thief! She will steal your things for use in her attached home!

Malgré un accueil sympathique, la propreté n'est pas au rendez-vous. Que ce soit dans la cabane privée ou dans la zone partagée (cuisine et salle d'eau + toilettes), le nettoyage n'est pas fait. Draps sales, ventilateur rempli de poussière, ustensiles de cuisine (grille pain et poêles méritent un renouvellement) sont des exemples. This hostel is a s***. While the description on Hostelworld led me to believe it was a seafront hostel, it was 30 minutes away from the beach!!!! I feel cheated and disrespected and it perturbed heavily the planning of my trip!!!

such a lovely little place. lots of animals. you are a little walk from the lake but nice to be out of the way. the lady that runs it is amazing. very much a community hostel I had a very nice time there.

Loin du centre mais près du terminal ADO, la piscine est la bien venu avec la chaleur, bon rapport qualité prix.

This hostel was kinda far away from the beach and everything. The room we stayed in was pretty chill, but we also only stayed one night. It was smelling a little bit weird and the toilets were not really clean. There was free water and hammocks and the owner was super nice and coming forward. I think it’s maybe the best for family’s that are doing a vacation to bacalar. It’s really small and if your looking for something really quiet this would be good for you.

Bon hostel pour le prix, lit confortable mais un peu proche des autres lits. Ensemble propre, accueil sympa. Loin du centre ville (30min à pied) mais si vous recherchez calme c’est parfait. Seul point négatif c’est les chiens qui aboient le matin.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. It’s not a luxury hostel but you get what you pay for. We slept two people in the bungalow. It’s very hot and the fan is pretty loud so would recommend ear plugs if you need it turned on. Cute dogs and cats to keep you company. Overall good value for money. Would recommend renting bikes, it is a bit far on foot to the centre:-)

Great value. This is a hostel I would stay in if you’re okay with simple living/nature. It’s pretty secluded and far away from the lake. It has a calm environment perfect to rest and chill. It was nice waking up to the sounds of the birds. Hot showers and friendly cat and dogs to hangout with. Staff were friendly too
