I wanted to like this hostel because it is cozy and the location is amazing, but you can tell that it is designed to maximize guests with little thought to the amenities. The section we were first in had 1 toilet and 2 showers for 12 guests. And the showers are really tiny and cramped. One of the private rooms we were in has 2 beds on a mezzanine, but the ceiling is so low, we had to crouch to move around, and were constantly hitting our heads. I don't think the hostel is worth the price.
was pretty ill whilst i stayed here and they were super accommodating. free breakfast and kitchen was good :) not many places to hang out and socialise though
The staff were nice here, however the hostel was extremely cramped in both bedrooms and common spaces, we were given a triple layer bunk bed with no side and the ladder at a distance which seemed pretty dangerous, there was one toilet between 10 people which was not regularly cleaned. The owner told us all the lockers were occupied so we couldn’t have one, there were only 3 lockers for 5 people. The breakfast was fine but the vibe was pretty awkward and not enough space for everyone to sit dow...
Atatau hostel is a great place to stay in La Paz. It very close to the main attractions here as well as a supermarket. The hostel itself has a filling breakfast (including fruits and egg) and has nice common spaces. The host, Alizon is fantastic too! I got robbed in La Paz and she was such a huge help in getting my new phone setup and helping me with other things. Highly recommend!
El hostel es bastante tranquilo , tiene una cocina pequeña . Las camas son muy cómodas
If you’re looking for a quiet stay with lovely hosts this is the spot. Stayed here multiple times during our time in Bolivia and they were warm and welcoming everytime. Respectful people all around. I can’t recommend this place enough.
Great location and nice staff. Breakfast was good except it ran out and I waited a long time for the staff to refill the bread etc. clean and comfy beds but top bunks with no curtains or rails is a bit tough. My worst qualm is that there’s practically no social space to hang out only the hard chairs in the dining area.
I originally booked a 6 man dorm for x2 nights which was good. The room was clean. I booked a private room for the last night as my partner joined me. The room was ready shortly after 11am check in, and felt unloved-shower cold, lamps didn’t work. At 9pm the staff told us we must pay more money for two people in the room, despite not being told this at booking. (Hostelworld doesn’t show either). After an hour wasted, we were told we didn’t need to. Such a faff and ruined a good experience
Shower cold, but otherwise V good
Good central location, however the rooms are small and the shower was cold (even when putting it on a lower setting). They did allow us to check in early though.
Not amazing overall, the breakfast was very underwhelming, and the 9 beds room was very small. Also I had some problems with their WiFi. Staff was nice but other then that I really didn’t enjoy that much my stay there
Lovely lovely staff and easy check in, they let us stay since 6 am and very easy it all The bedroom and sheets were not clean and had stains, the bathroom was not clean and there are not many
Social atmosphere but hard to recommend this hostel, I am sorry to say. The reviews are weirdly high in my opinion. Very high triple bunked beds have no guard rail - you could literally die if you roll of the bed. I had anxiety all night. No electric plugs Private rooms require entry through multiple connected dorm rooms. No privacy curtails. Electronic lock makes loud sounds all night as the door is difficult to open. This is a set up that to believe you really have to visit for...
The only thing were the plugs that didn’t really work and the mattresses were worn out. The blankets are very warm and breakfast is amazing, stuff is also very nice!
The common areas are sweet but overall a very small hostel: the dorm is small, showers are miniscule without any space to put your things, the lockers are way too tiny for a proper backpack to fit in so that you have to leave your stuff in another small luggage room unattended. The breakfast is really simple but for the price okay I guess.
I would stay here again.
The kitchen’s common room is inviting and great for meeting other travelers, and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, I can't agree with the rest of the positive reviews. In my opinion, the dorms are overcrowded with beds, there aren’t enough plugs and you have to be lucky to find a free one that works. Some rooms lack windows, making the air stuffy. The showers are inconsistent—either too hot or (mostly) cold—and cleanliness leaves to be desired. Breakfast was okay overall.
Returned here multiple times. Staff are great and let me check in early after a night bus which was awesome. Breakfast is decent with good social vibes. Storage for bags also good
