Super cool vibe. Open-mic every night and an up-and-coming hangout for the locals.
I really loved staying here. The place is beautiful and surrounded by trees, which makes it feel very peaceful. It’s a little away from the busy areas but still close enough to everything, and that small distance makes it perfect for relaxing — you can even hear the birds. The room was lovely, there’s a very nice café on site, and the staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming. Overall, a beautiful and calming place to stay.
Great hostel one of the only in Bodh Gaya. Met some lovely people and the hostel is clean. Bodh Gaya in general is a bit hard to get to but the hostel owner was fantastic
This was our favourite hostel! We’d been travelling across northern India for a month, and by far this was our favourite. The owner is lovely and really passionate about making this hostel a great place to be. Good cafe, cute evening entertainment sessions of live music, in nature but not too far from the main sites to see.
Amazing place with very nice people!! Without any doubt, if someday I will go to Bodhgaya again, I will stay in HouseTale again.
What a place! Absolutely overwhelmed by everything, the vibes, the homely food, the cozy visitor's room, Armanbhai... everything and anything i needed for getting my first solo travel right. Was absolutely tension free. Armanbhai is also a visionary, thinking forth on enhancing the experience more and more. If you want a hostel to meet new people and plan further, this is the place - HouseTale, Bodh gaya. Come as strangers, leave gratified!
Amazing stay here, the owner, Arman, is incredibly friendly and helpful. He was a fantastic host! The location is great for visiting everything in Bodh Gaya, and they will help you book a tour for anything further afield. The rooms are great and very comfortable. Would highly recommend!
nice and calm place at 8 min. taxy from the city center. very nice owner, looks like a good ongoing project to develop
Great chill spot just outside of Bodh Gaya, lovely private rooms with the best lighting out of any hostels we’ve stayed in.
It is the only hostel available in Bodh Gaya, with all the basic amenities, the host Armaan is amazing, he will make you feel like home, one of the best hostels I have traveled to.
Had a nice stay here, the area is lovely and peaceful, away from the busy town, which is really nice, and the vibe really chill and very friendly from both locals and travellers. The food was decent too and the free breakfast was a nice touch. The owner also invites everyone to have dinner together too! Had a private room and bathroom, which were both nice and spacious. My bathroom could have been cleaner but not a big deal. Owner very helpful and chill and Alen was a legend!
Had a lovely time there, met nice people! And the staff there, especially Pankaj was super kind to me and everyone and he was very competent at his job!
Very good vibes plus the hostel is kept very well by Pankaj who also prepares very good food
I stayed 2 nights at HouseTale and absolutely loved the place. It has very peaceful vibes, a nice outdoor area, surrounded by trees from all sides. The host Armaan is warm, kind and a seasoned traveller himself. If you're looking to spend some good time in bodhgaya, HouseTale is the place to be - you will find what you're looking for.
On paper this is a nice hostel. I had a private room. The staff was okay. Neither too warm, nor too cold. If I had a question, it was answered. The other travelers were pleasant, but I felt no community. People did their own thing. I saw string lights, I saw poppy colored walls. I saw patio furniture. But I didn't feel much energy or heart in this hostel. I hope they will have more of an on-site manager who is ACTIVE in interacting with guests (and not just via WhatsApp and having a local hired ...
it have some little rats going around the room and back yard. It have a small drum of hot water that’s not enough to so many people.
HouseTale is the only backpacker hostels in and around Bihar, and I'm a huge fan of hostels run by passionate travelers. Arman (the host) is one of those people, and he went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The dorms and bathrooms were spotless, and what truly made the experience special were the cozy indoor and outdoor social spaces, which were full of life and had an amazing vibe. This welcoming atmosphere is only possible because the host is actively involved from the get go.
Recommended. As a solo female traveller, I felt safe and like at home. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
