The owner was rather friendly, his 4 large dogs unfortunately not that much... Got jumped on by them two times. I don't recommend showing up before check-in which is at 16:00 there. Dinner is good but expensive, facilities rather basic. One toilet was clogged, and warm water was limited. The view is stunning.
Location and view super. Paying direct is more expensive than using a booking site but they don’t have the decency to make this clear. Dinner much better value than breakfast (which has to be ordered the night before as one fellow guest learned from the miserable young woman at reception). Very basic self cooking facilities. Access to communal indoor spaces not permitted before 1600. Hot water is limited and sporadic. Standards below other hostels on GC but no competition in the area.
The good: The location was incredible. The bed was comfy. The views were stunning. The staff (not owners) were nice. The bad: it was very cold in Jan but there was no hot water for the shower. They left only one thin summer duvet on the bed. The room door didn’t close so it was 6 degrees in the room. The owner switched off the heating when we were in the common area.
this place is in a stunning location. it's in new hands now and is more business like. it's more expensive for average facilities. food good but again expensive. i'd certainly go back, ideally with a car.
Fantastic location. Friendly and helpful staff. The facilities are clean and very adequate but not fancy (which is to be expected in a mountain hostel). Breakfast and dinner available for a reasonable price. Great starting point for trips/hikes to Tejeda, Roque Nublo and Pico de las Nieves. For those without a rental car, it is reachable by bus from Las Palmas (L303 to San Mateo, then L305 to Cuevas Caidas or Cruz de Tejeda with a 35 min walk). I had a great stay at the hostel! 100% recommended.
Grazie!!!
Absolutely fantastic, stunning views, super friendly stuff, animals all around the house (including fresh eggs for brekkie. :-)), amazing vegetarian food and the absolute silence of the mountain. 10/10 would go again!
The sunsets/sunrises from this hostel have to be a contender for best in the world. It is quite remote, so it is a little easier if you have a car. Very nice staff, and the meals are worth trying, particularly the dinner. Not much atmosphere, the common area is laid out more like a restaurant and has limited openings hours so meeting fellow travellers is harder. My main issue was the door on the room I had - barely worked right and required a huge amount of jimmying to get it opened or close...
Beautiful location and amazing atmosphere! :)
The view there is incredible and the sunsets are just breathtaking. The hostel in itself is nicely decorated, with very basic facilities. You can get breakfast and dinner there and there is a possibility to cook easy stuff. This place is great if you want to enjoy the mountains and hike during the day, but not if you want to party and go to the beach..! FYI: the common space close at 10pm, the closest supermarket is 30min walk, and there is only 2-3 buses a day to leave the place.
A wonderful place to stay. Ideal for hiking or just hanging out and enjoying the ambiance of the area.
Super schöne Lage zum Wandern, mit traumhaften Ausblick
Really good vibe and wonderful restaurant to sit and meet other travellers. Fantastic view over the Valley and mountains. Rooms and beds good but nothing special. Minus point: only one shower and 2 toilets for all the guests. And when it rains…… be ready to get wet because you have to go outside from your room to get there. Other minus point: bot really a kitchen you can use so guests are expected to use the reasonably good priced restaurant (8 breakfast, 15 full dinner). Still recommend...
Honestly one of the best hostels I stayed at. Great atmosphere, absolutely stunning view. Lovely staff. It’s got all you can ask for. (except a beach, but well, you’re in the mountains anyway)
had an amazing trip, decided to stay in one location the whole duration of my trip. this was a good choice as the island was completely sold out over the festive period. the place is isolated as you'd expect when booking but it's totally worth it for the vistas overlooking the mountain range and great sunsets. for a remote place youl be pleased to know the showers are super hot and have decent pressure, a major selling point for me.
There were no proper showers or running water. There was spider webs in the beds. No only womens rooms and no wifi in the rooms, only in the reception which closes at 23:00. The place is extremely hard to get to and from, only come here if you have rented a car.
Super location. Though staff were a massive let down. The (Southern) European male volunteer s lazy, just came after an Italian female guest. I arrived at 3:35pm, he was sitting at table learning Spanish, but told me staff s not here. In the evening, I realised he infact worked as a volunteer. On check-in, staff never told me kitchenette I can use, fridge,2 toilets. The only Spanish staff (evening) is great. FIRE all the German and European volunteers, they are lazy, just wanna stay for Free.
Sehr schön gelegenes Hostel mit wunderschöner Aussicht. Viele Wanderwege in der Umgebung. Optionen Frühstück und Abendessen dazu zubuchen.
