Managed very well and had a smooth time with late arrival and checkout. Very clean, social, and well-located. Kitchen had everything I needed. Bed was comfy in 10 bed female dorm.

I really liked the vibe of the place to start off, everyone was very friendly and social. I was put off after my first day when I received an email from an employee at the front desk asking me out? I would understand if maybe they just said something in person but finding my email through booking details felt like an invasion of privacy. Not the hostels fault at all just personal experience, made me slightly uncomfortable for my stay

Super central to downtown Dunedin and a short walk away from the Octagon. Staff was helpful and they can even do your laundry for you for only $8 total! Room was clean and bed had a privacy curtain. It can be a bit noisy at night due to the location but overall 5/5 :-)

I would have loved to stay longer than two nights at Uptown Backpackers. The welcome was incredibly warm and appreciative, making me feel right at home. The room was very comfortable, the kitchen and common area were great, and it was a wonderful opportunity to meet new people. It was really fun, and I'd love to come back.

I was here as a solo female traveller and felt so safe and at home! Free street parking a 5 minute walk away that the front desk helped ,e with! Beds are super comfy and the beds have curtains so lots of privacy! Chargers in the bunk and storage underneath! Would absolutely recommend! Was in a great location if high didn’t have a car you can walk to everything including the grocery store!! Kitchen was very well stocked including oil and spices. Will absolutely stay here again!

as a solo female traveler i unfortunately did not feel safe in the common room areas, a lot of long stay and dodgey people around The actual rooms were great very modern

Super centrally located and very comfy. Bathrooms were clean and bedrooms were warm even in winter! Perfect for a weekend stay. The only thing worth mentioning is to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper as there's quite a bit of noise from the street.
