I stayed here for 2 nights and each night i was woken up by different people across the hall engaging in extremely Loud sexual activity. I had my own private room but was still woken up by these noises. The first night the solution resolved itself but the second night I asked the staff for help. They told me they can’t make them stop but they offered me a new room at 4am. I accepted, however the new rooms windows were too thin and the street noise was too loud.
Very clean. Good private beds but not super comfortable. Breakfast is a very nice touch! Staff is nice. Bathrooms for guys are kinda inconveniently located and showers are small. Location is not bad but not great, close to 101!
Dans l’ensemble le logement est ok, mais j’ai trouver les douches petite sale et vraiment pas pratique, et la chambre n’a pas de fenêtre donc on peut vite se sentir un peu oppressé Pour quelques nuits et économiser de l’argent ça va
Hostel is alright. Beds were very nice and clean same with the bathrooms. I’m only leaving a 7.1 because the location wasn’t the best, it’s near Taipei 101 but honestly Taipei 101 is meh. Also, this hostel is not social at all, so if you’re looking to meet people while traveling this is not the place.
Very nice stay in Formosa 101! Rooms were comfortable and great atmosphere:)
Good location -- maybe a 15 minute walk to Taipei 101 and the MRT station. Has a bus station right outside too. The staff were great, very helpful and friendly. The layout of the hostel is inconvenient; the hostel is split between the 5th and 12th floor, and then the men on the 5th floor have to leave the secure area in order to go to the bathroom cause the bathroom is outside -- not great in the middle of the night. There's zero atmosphere, but the eating area is comfortable.
Overpriced, anonymised, no social area, not a cosy place…don’t trust those two photos..breakfast…don’t call a toast a breakfast… Men shower is a little far away from the rooms…not that clean… It was a waste of money and I’m not going there again. They might charge you a lot because the 101 tower is close by…but it just a tower. Come on and relax.
Good hostel a bit outside the city center but just across the street from a very nice night market. Rooms are a bit small but overall ok, beds are comfortable. Common area could use a bit more space. there’s a small kitchen
If you’re a backpacker and used to hostels, this place will be fine. It’s beyond basic. It feels like an apartment but has 0 social vibes. The rooms don’t have windows but the ac was good. Bed was comfortable. The bathroom and showers are a walk down a few halls and past doors. Not a social backpacker place but if you just want to sleep then it’s fine. The location was not great. It was in some random building on a busy two way street. Not great. Nothing special or memorable.
Utterly devoid of life, avoid if you want to have any social contact, facilities are not terrible but also not particularly convenient, staff also wasn't friendly or particularly helpful, and the breakfast was a pretty poor offering of just bread with spreads and horrible sausages.
Not my favorite hostel but the location is awesome if you want to be close to 101.
I had a clean single room, a quiet night and lovely breakfast! Very kind operators! Definitely can recommend!
We kept extending during our stay and everything went super smooth. Helpful staff and clean hallways. Overall a great place to stay in Taipei for a few nights
Had a great time. Our room.was perfect. We had 3 adults and private ensuite. Laundry facilities were easy to use. Kitchen easy access and great tea selection. Close to night market, supermarket and foot massage establishments.
The location is amazing as it is near a small night market! The room did not have a window, but otherwise it was quite comfortable at an affordable price. The atmosphere was a bit quite, so I recommend traveling with a friend if you are staying here!
Very spacious and clean. I ended up having the entire 8 bed room to myself on the last night. Good AC but the bathrooms were far away.
Overall, the location of this hostel is great, the breakfast is just right in a pinch, the private rooms are nice (though some don't have windows, fyi), and the facilities are tidy. My only thing to note is the bathrooms: while the showers are great, the toilet stalls are REALLY tiny. I'm only 5'6/168cm, but I had a hard time easily sitting on the toilets, and when I did my knees were almost touching the wall in front of me. Definitely something to consider if you're a taller traveler. Also: the...
I wasn't going to leave a review before but today I received this email from another resident staying that day. "I was staying on Formosa Hostel Taiwan on 13th to 14th March and when I was leaving the hostel, I didn't find my showes. The front desk told me that you intentionally left your shoes and took mine. I mean I had a flight that day just before I leave. May I know what makes you to do that?" I don't appreciate being called a thief when I forgot my shoes on site and wore my sandals inste...
The staff was nice and the location of the accommodation is highly recommended. Directly opposite the night market. However, the hostel makes compromises when it comes to cleanliness. You can tell that it's getting a bit old and that hygiene isn't given that much importance. However, there was free breakfast, which I was very happy about. All in all a solid accommodation!
The employees are very friendly and the location is really good. Not only is there a metro station nearby, there is also a night market across the street and a family mart next door. Family mart is perfect to get some hot midnight meals, after a long night out 😉. Some reviews say that there is no atmosphere to meet people there, but I guess that that depends on the people staying there. I made some awesome friends in the first 10 minutes of my arrival!
