Jo J's Hostel and Guest House

John's place was great! I honestly wished that I could have stayed longer because his home was so peaceful! plus he lives in a part of Barbados that is really quiet! his home is also close to the beach. I fully enjoyed being able to walk 10-15 min to the beach. I recommend this hostel for your stay especially if it is your first time in Barbados!

it was ok. Not more or less. It does not have to be perfect as log as the host cares. He gets very grumpy when you give him a feedvack or ask for anything in the house.

Wow the private rooms are really terrible! There are air conditioned villas close to the beach for this price. I got a single private. I booked and paid for two nights, but left after the first night as I couldn't bear staying there. The owner made a random racist remark about Indians while showing me around the place. We had just the best time here, and John was an excellent host. Thank you John for offering such a cozy, affordable and well located place to allow people to visit this wonderful country. We can’t wait to come back. We enjoyed hanging out in the garden and the gazebo out front as well. An all around gem!

I enjoyed my stay as John was so nice and helpful. He drove me to anywhere I wanted to go. I highly recommend any one who wants to save money and explore Barbados.

Convenient for airport. Very helpful also in picking me up and dropping me off there. Cosy studio.

like a 10 min walk if you take the short cut to the beach, fish market , regular market and bus stop very convenient host is a small talk very forward person with a good memory so if you need something or have a question just ask breakfast was great, hot water in shower of private room thin walls, great value worth the price for location and great neighborhood

Owner is really nice and happy to help but the room was not very clean with hair from the previous guest on the Floor of the room and bathroom and even in the fridge, a bit dissapointing considering the price I paid. I definitly expected more. Well placed if you wanna go to the fish fry in oistins.

It was a difficult location to find with public transport; I did not avail of the pick up. Took over half an hour to sort check in and I was asked for higher than was quoted. I was told the AC is extra money. Was given the dirtiest fan ever; worst 7 hrs transit. I would not recommend. Yes it was cheap but I was very uncomfortable. There was wi fi. The host also drove me to the airport for a fare.

I think this place is pretty good if you stay in the shared bedrooms. The main house is dark and not enough windows to let the sun shine in. It’s clean and not too far from the well known Miami beach. As per the private room, it’s a wooden shack built behind his house. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Jo J's as a single traveller I found the property met every expectation. I stayed for 2 weeks and wish I'd have had 2 weeks more! It's a great location, minutes from many fantastic beaches (the most popular being Miami beach but the ones either side proved to be equally enchanting) within a friendly neighbourhood where the locals welcome you and take time out to chat and pass pleasantries. Lovely youth hostel, ask if you need some towels, run out hand soap, shower gel or wash up liquid for the kitchen.... keep the Kitchen & Shared area clean . Good clean room with Air Condition unit was fabulous. Owner is there in high season usally around November to Feburary... then he team looks after it the rest of the year. John is very helpful & kind, he went above & beyond to help us we we stayed 2 weeks in January 2025.

Jo war sets nett und hilfsbereit zu mir, er stand bei fragen per WhatsApp sofort zur Verfügung. Ein Supermarkt ist 5min entfernt. Jo zeigt euch schleich Wege um schneller nach Oistins und zum Strand zu kommen:)

It was a pleasure to stay at Jo J’s Hostel! It’s a very nice and quiet area and you can walk to the beach and the village. The host is very kind and happy to help.

I stayed in the studio which had everything an independent traveller needs. Aircon and mosquito net in the room too. John greeted me and gave me a run down of everything in the area, it’s a short walk to the main strip and bus routes around the island. It did the job, would stay again 👍🏻
