The staff were very kind and caring, helpful with anything you ask. But the atmosphere felt more like a hostel for locals than it did travellers. The facilities were evidently not well looked after and the few travellers I met in my stay had similar room share scenarios with other guests that did not respect the shared space (in general areas or rooms). I would not recommend this hostel to anyone passing through looking for a clean and functional space to rest their head.
Good enough place to sleep for a couple of nights - can’t complain for $30. The only staff are on a computer screen & the kitchen could be looked after a bit more. Not the most sociable environment which isn’t helped by the lack of activities in Port Adelaide.
honestly a perfectly good hostel especially for the price, i definitely do not understand all of the terrible reviews. I feel like some people like to just moan, it has everything you can want you can easily get transport into the city and the price is amazing, goes to show never rely on reviews 😂
It’s just terrible. Looks and feels like a crackhouse. Don’t waste your money, I mean it.
HORRIBLE!!!
The are a lot of australian living permanently in the hostel, they look a bit like homeless people. So there are not a lot of backpackers and it's not a good place for meeting people. And the building is pretty old. It's in the middle of Port Adélaïde but 14 km from the town center. But the hostel is cheap and theres a free parking nearby.
Best hostel ever, will be back
It was one of the worst hostel I did in my life : very dirty, unconfident and worrying people the bed room smelled of stale tobacco and vomit full of cockroaches in the kitchen…
Not suitable for long term stays. The kitchen is too small and there's not nearly enough cutlery (only 2 spoons and they're both soup spoons). There were also bugs in the kitchen. The onsite staff are cleaners, they're friendly but the receptist are remote and you have to talk to them on a screen, again they're friendly but it's impersonal.
Worst hostel I have ever been. If you can avoid it don’t come here. I planned on staying for 4 weeks because of work nearby but couldn’t stand it and left earlier. Hygiene is bad, no soap for the whole time in the bathroom, toilets are often dirty, cockroaches everywhere in the kitchen, also poorly equipped. A lot of old people who seem to be on dr**s. One old guy in the room started searching through our bags in the night and took chargers. When we reported the hostel staff didn’t do anyt...
When we arrived there was a massive feud. One of the residents got kicked out after having some sort of tantrum. Next day police were walking in and out of the hostel. There’s no physical reception, just a screen and a video feed. All felt very unprofessional
There were all tons of different people, but most of them seemed to be at least mid 30 to 40. The Hostel wasn’t really for backpackers, as the majority of people looked like poor natives of Adelaide.
Not a backpacker hostel. It’s more people who seem homeless or look like addicts that stay there. I didn’t feel safe but I will also mention that I didn’t any people being uncomfortable It is also dirty. Didn’t feel like taking a shower it was that dirty! I also saw mice hanging out in the common area. No personal. But it says that on the website so that is what you can expect. The rooms were decent and clean ok. Ok if you are only sleeping I guess.
