Great place to crash in bend, walkable to food and beer, food carts on site too. Fun times to be had here. Will use it in the future as my base camp for skiing at bachelor next season.
Perma-staff smoking pot inside the house while I'm studying for my thesis. Had to babysit a possible OD. Kicked out for defending myself by a masked warrior.
Great helpful friendly people
The hostel staff was friendly. They have an awesome outside courtyard area with fire pit, food trucks, and lots of places to sit and relax. The hostel is a few blocks walking distance from a charming shops and restaurant district.
Great location near lots of restaurants. The buildings are a little older but have everything you need. Taco truck in the backyard is nice and convenient
Love love love this place... It feels like home away from home. Great stay for a break from hiking. Comfy hammocks to lounge in and common areas... Always something going on to meet people.. the Oaxacan food cart slaps! And the staff, especially Nix are SO welcoming and accommodating!
I’m from Germany and I love it!! Awesome hostel, second time I stayed there Stuff is super friendly, only awesome people work there and it’s soo easy to make friends and good connections. Hopefully see you soon
I dont have high expectations, overall the place was kind of messy and a bit dirty. there was just a lot of junk and people's things, whose Im assuming belonged to what seemed like a large group of permanent residents. Many people were sleeping outside or in their vans/busses, which is fine, but it doesn't seem like they're travelers or hostel guests. for that reason I'm glad I was traveling with my brother.Im sure everyone was nice, it's just offputting. Beds were comfy.
A totally fine place to crash close to town if you're out all day doing hikes/adventures in Bend. Location is good but room was very average and musty- not somewhere I would want to spend much time. I found it very difficult to sleep due to the uncomfortable mattress in my room and a disruptive roommate on the second night. Vibe of staff was great and loved the bar and Mexican food truck but whole place needs a refresh.
So disgusting that I reported them to the health department (which I’ve never done before). Trust me, it was—called for. Horrible smell, blood on the bathroom floor, walls and floors *covered* in dust and gunk. Pillow so flat it could have been a pillow case. Can feel the wires through the mattress, which was sunk in. Horrible smell. Overall vibe = dumpy frat house. I have stayed in many hostels in the US & other countries. By FAR the worst. I’m putting it on my “Top 3 Beware US Hostels...
Had an awesome stay at Bunk + Brew! Big thanks to those working the front desk, Zach, Chris, Nyx, and Yurri for being super friendly. Trivia with Ian was a blast too! Bend Oregon is such a fun place, grateful I got to explore it!
Pretty cool spot but if with a large amount of people as long term residents it feels more like you're a visitor in an established group of friends. Most akin to a frat house, pretty disorganized and very very dirty when I went (though I heard they had a huge party the weekend before I got there so maybe it was a one off?). loved the instrument/living room. parking was very difficult but everyone was nice. someone else's stuff was on my bed when I got there. pretty inexpensive though
Fun and cozy hostel with lots of community events. Phenomenal location.
Not for trying to sleep before 10pm! Bunk-beds are squishy spring-style frame. But, people were great, both guests and staff, and there was a lot of joviality - fun party-vibes, and great amenities (like sauna) and everything was pretty clean, but for trying to get to sleep before midnight - NOT conducive. People here stay up late, cooking, playing music and talking loudly until pretty late - which is great, but I don't recommend this place if you are trying to get to bed by 10.
I am so confused why this hostel had such good reviews? The first night I slept horribly because I was freezing cold and I could feel every single mattress spring. Night two I learned I could keep the space heater on overnight and get an extra blanket so that helped. The two bottom bunks in annex room 4 have terrible mattresses! There were no accessible outlets in the room. The bathroom didn’t feel that clean. The trash cans were overflowing and I had to track someone down to get toilet paper
The location and activities (food trucks, beer truck, yard, etc) were great. However, there was not any eggs or food for breakfast as advertised. There was also no-one at the desk when I tried to do laundry "before 8am" like the sign suggested. Overall it was fine, but there were some annoyances
Very friendly staff, cozy atmosphere and very good location for hiking trips
Super fun place to stay at. A pit creaky, but that's expected of an old house and is the only reason one might be bothered (creaky floorboards and doors). The atmosphere was lovely, the staff was like a little found-family, and joining them for breakfast or evening sitting-around-the table was lovely, even when we were doing our separate activities. Returning here after a long day of mountains and lakes was like coming back to a cozy, welcoming home. Loved the amenities! Recommend. good vibes!:)
As a solo skier on a budget this place is great. 15 min walk to Hawthorne bus station to catch the #18 bus to Mt Bachelor. Blocks away from downtown restaurants and breweries. Pretty clean and not too noisy. I didn't even realize they had a sauna until I checked out :)
Really dirty and really loud. We ended up leaving after the first night (suppose to be there for 4 nights) because they were up partying until 3am even though the quiet times were suppose to start at 11pm. They were literally yelling and cursing and even the next day all day they were partying inside so loudly that we weren’t going to have another night of no sleep. Location was great but was not worth it with how dirty and loud it was.
