Surf Base Hostel

The hostel itself is really basic, but they have all you need, rooms could be cleaner, kitchen was ok. But they cancelled my reservation in the app when I was already staying there and kept the deposit and then I still had to pay the whole amount at the hostel. Also they wanted to change me for 2 days of surfboard use even tho I used it less than 24h. When I checked out, I was waiting for my bus in the common area and the owner was messaging me that I’m a thief and kicked me out, out of nowher...

This Hostel is cheap and located in a good area of you want to surf.. The Common areas are super Dirty, the lockers in the kitchen were dirty when we came, the furniture in the hostel is old and the sofa outside is broken. There were ants on the walls and in the bathroom the sink and the shower were clogged. Dont go there, its not worth a Cent.

Ich hatte eine sehr gute Zeit mit wundervollen Leuten. Eine ruhige und entspannte Lage in der Nähe eines super Surfspots. 🤙

Thanks to João for his warm welcome. Always there to help or give good advice about the surrounding area. A great atmosphere in this hostel. An ideal spot if you're looking for an authentic little place and beautiful waves.

Would not recommend. The pictures are misleading. The miniramp is gone. There is only 1 bathroom with toilet and shower in one room, which are super dirty. The toilet rarely flushes. The kitchen is dirty, and we couldnt even find 2 bowls and spoons for our breakfast. The staff uses the only chill area as smoking spot, with loud music. The rental surfboards have more ding than board. Jose is very friendly and welcoming, but this place really needs a renovation.

If you’re looking for the perfect mix of nature, chill vibes, and surfing, this is definitely the place. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to relax, meet people, and share fun activities. Even though it’s a bit far from the city (you’ll need to take an Uber), it’s easily accessible and totally worth it for the surf and the atmosphere. I booked this before reading the reviews and was a bit skeptical but I’m so glad I chose to stay at surf base! The atmosphere here was great and super communal. I’d compare it more to camping than a hostel as it’s more integrated in the nature but if you’re looking for great vibes, people, surf, connection, and an active lifestyle, this is the best place for it. I’m sad I didn’t get to stay longer but if I return to Brazil I will 100% come back to surf base

We thought the owner was nice to begin with, but I think we just caught him on a good day. We bought a surf lesson through him, and when we had to pay on our last day we were overcharged. We calmly asked him about, but the owner went completely crazy, was all up in our face, grabbed us and was so physically threatening that we were scared not to pay the price he said. He didn’t even let us explain anything, just yelled so loud and aggressively that people came into our rooms afterwards and ask...

the owner told me ut possible to arrive to a chek in at 5 am after i order a bus . he didn't answerd amd i waited outside the hostel for hour amd half , he was racisit to me because he has some israelis compleind about his behvior to them withno contact to me . for those reasons i would not rocommend arriving there

Hostel avec une bonne ambiance. Le personnel et volontaires sont très sympas. C’est dommage car cet Hostel a vraiment un potentiel mais mériterait beaucoup de travaux et plus de rigueur sur l’hygiène..

This hostel is quite a thing. A lot of equipment didn’t work or looked worn out, sleeping was a challenge, we couldn’t wash our stuff even though it’s said on the page & you should know, that you have to walk through chest high water to get so the beach. Although the staff working there were really kind and sweet, trying everything to make us feel welcomed, we didn’t feel too good around there. I feel like they didn’t get the treatment they deserved. The hostel was a really good and fun experience. Jose is really helpful and is always available if you need him. The vibe of surfbase is a really fun one where everyone is sharing with each other and having a good time. I would really recommend this hostel if you are young and want to surf and enjoy the beach or to meet new people.

Great hostel with an awesome Vibe in the middle of nature. It has a beautiful garden and a lot of art on the property. I stayed there for a whole month. The little huts are very cozy and comfy. 15 min walk to the surf beach. Perfect for everyone who wants to enjoy the waves of Itamambuca in a very chill environment

You definitely get what you pay for here. I really liked the overall vibe and the skater feel, but if you are looking to sleep and peacefully relax this is not the place for you. There are a lack of chargers and only one shower seemed to have hot water.The kitchen was often and the bins need to be cleaned way more often. The two guy volunteers were very helpful and friendly though and even lifted me during the rain.
