Saraguate eco hostel

Ivan is so much willing to make you feel at home, help you with any request you have in your journey. Accepts payment with card no recharge!! The spaces are great and the staff very helpful. You will feel like being in the middle of the jungle while in the living room. Food is totally home made and with love, always local. The lake is very welcoming and clean. Monkeys visit everyday to shout for a while and the cars, motorbikes and trucks in the road can be a little bit noisy at times.

Lovely hostel! The hosts and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved having dinner together with all the other guests. The atmosphere is very cozy and social.

This hostel is in a beautiful location right on the lake, the food they serve is delicious and the rooms/amenities are great. Would recommend this hostel to anyone who is looking for this secluded jungle style hostel !

Großartig!

We had the bestest stay ever here! It’s so worth taking the extra bus ride from Flores and super easy. Ivan, his mum and Hayley were the kindest people. One of us was sick on our first night and they helped us feel at home. The Tikal tour was super easy and so good through the hostel- the guide was lovely and a very knowledgeable local called Nixon. This place is breathtaking when you walk in, the photos here don’t do it justice! We wish we could’ve stayed longer. Highly recommend!

Absolutely phenomenal! This place is a sanctuary! A bit of a drive outside of Flores but easily accessible by bus, Ivan & his mom have created a wonderful home away from home. It's so warm and welcoming, the food is phenomenal and they're sooo helpful with whatever you need! It's quiet - besides all the beautiful wildlife sounds, the atmosphere is peaceful & warm and you will definitely meet people from all over the world in a wonderful setting! I will definitely be back! ❤️

Very nice Place with a Great Location at the Lake. However its very of grid so be prepared for longer trips if you want to get to town. The dorms were nice. Theres only one shower and bathroom per dorm that could be improved. Also only one Stove for everybody to cook on including the housekeeper for the guests meals. Owner is very friendly and helpful and organizes Transport/ tours if you like

Super friendly and helpful staff, everyone went above and beyond to help us schedule and organize our trip. Lots of super cute and friendly animals running around, delicious homecooked meals, and the most pleasant water I’ve ever swam in. Shoutout to Ivan, Patsy, Hayley, and the rest of the staff for keeping the place very clean and cooking delicious food.

Saraguate es un lugar tan especial y familiar. Fue hermoso y la comida fue deliciosa cada vez! Todos allá estaban de muy buena honda. Habia monos directamente enfrente de la casa y en la mañana teníamos una clase de Yoga!

One of the nicest hostels I’ve ever stayed at! 😍 The location is beautiful , away from all the hustle and bustle, surrounded by nature and right by the water. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxed, and the (delicious!) family dinners make it feel really cozy and are a great way to easily meet other people. Evan and his mother are incredibly helpful and assisted me with everything, which made my trip so much easier. I highly recommend this place! 😊

Everything was amazing, from the kindness of the owners to the peaceful atmosphere surrounded by nature. A special mention goes to Juanita, the best cook ever! She prepared delicious, healthy, and nutritious meals every day at a very affordable price. Waking up to the sounds of nature was a unique experience. The hostel also has a beautiful lake where you can go kayaking and the warm water makes it even more enjoyable. It’s the perfect place for a little detox from fast-paced life .

Werkelijk fantastische plek. Een klein stuk van Flores af, maar hier wil je heel graag verblijven. Ivan is een fantastische host, fantastische vrijwilligers, je voelt je heel snel thuis. Prachtig mooi en schoon huis, aan het water. Fantastische mensen ontmoet tijdens de heerlijke familiediners. Aai de dieren voor mij! Grote aanrader.

I’ve never stayed in a hostel like this ever in my life. It was in the jungle, there’s direct access to the lake, incredible staff and food was amazing. I couldn’t recommend this hostel enough!! :)

Great place to relax, helpful owner and staff and fantastic food!

Amazing place full of charm and atmosphere, is a very chilled place and staff are brilliant. The only catch is that the place is a little out the way and is a fair way out from Flores however there is a regular bus service that is very cheap and takes about an hour. If you’re looking for somewhere quiet and chilled this is definitely the place to go!!! The hostel also arrange the day trip to Tikal which is an absolute!!! Definitely recommend this place had a lovely stay!!!

Highly recommend staying here. Super lovely family run business. Rooms were great and felt like you were in touch with nature. Can hear and see the monkeys. Very chill Environment. Good place to relax. Staff very knowledgable and able to book transfers, taxis, Tikal etc. kayaks available for free on the lake. 3 meals a day at a reasonable price and were amazing. Is a bit far away from Flores but I would just organise a taxi with the hostel. Well worth the extra drive.

Wahnsinnig netter und hilfreicher Host mit tollen Tipps (insbesondere für Transfers) und top Organisation des Tikal-Trips! Man sollte auf dem Schirm haben, dass die An- und Abreise nach flores ca 1h braucht und öffentlich nur sporadisch möglich (mit dem Taxi jederzeit, kostet allerdings ca. 150Q). Insbesondere für frühe Weiterreisen ist das ggf. relevant. Ansonsten ist die Lage paradiesisch und ruhig!

Had a really great stay here. Loved swimming in the lake. The evening meals were a real highlight. The private room i had was beautiful and lit up orange as the sun came up. I wish I could have stayed longer. Gracias Ivan!
