Perfect place to see the Orangutan and Bear center.
Beautiful location so close to the Orangutan, Sunbear, and Rainforest centers. Would stay here again! Our door had trouble locking at night but it was so remote we weren’t really concerned. Curtains on the beds would be preferred but no big deal. Very kind staff, free water, walkable, and great breakfast!
Good place to stay in Sepilok with good location
The resort is very quiet, near the Orange Utan Sanctuary and the Rainforest. They have their own restaurant, which is convenient, but otherwise there's not much nearby. It's relatively clean, but a bit run-down (the dorms & toilets) – a little renovation would do it good – but perfectly recommendable for a few nights. There's no kitchen or common room to hang out in, except at reception, but it's very hot there. Very friendly and helpful staff! I would recommend.
Very friendly staff and the cleanest room we stayed in in Borneo. You can walk to all the local attractions and the restaurant attached has good food.
We got a free upgrade to the king room and it was beautiful - comfiest bed we’ve had in 5 months of travel! Staff are absolutely lovely and location is perfect, 10-20 min walk from the activities in Sepilok. The atmosphere is super quiet which is fine for us as a couple that wanted to chill.
This is a fancy-shmancy restaurant that caters for bus-loads of tourists before visiting the Orang Utans (1 Km away) . It's set on a large complex of lush greenery, lawns and wooden cabins. The food is excellent, breakfast (included) lunch and dinner are 5-star buffets. Though it is very isolated. The dorm beds are shaky, with no lights, sockets or curtains, but extremely clean. Very weak WiFi in the dorm and lots of mosquitos. Beautiful 5-star place, zero personality, if that's your thing.
I would go again and recommend. Staying in the 8-bed dorm, I had to share it only with one fellow traveler, and we got along well. The location is perfect - short walk to the Rainforest Discovery Center and also to the sanctuaries. The bathroom was okay - nothing fancy, but working. The stay was a pleasant surprise with nice people, helpful staff and comfortable beds.
They don’t allow people to take a shower when they arrive at night? Water issues? Cmon. Charged me 20 myr for a 3 -minute ride from the highway to the hostel (1.6km). Such an awkward vibe when no one smiles, everyone looks at you like “what are you doing here?” Of the people in the premises, no one could be bothered to help me at check-in. No running water, you cannot even wash your hands (at night). No soap in the showers. You say “put your sanitary wipes in bin” but there’s no bin....
Decent place, excellent location, nice staff. Recommended
The good: Good localization (close to sun bears, orangutans and RDC) and the facility is generally well maintained, nice and clean. The bad: not too vibey. The common space is just by the reception and it by any means doesn't promote social activities. The atmosphere is rather stiff, I don't know.
Beautiful nature lodge very peaceful and near sanctuaries. The lodge itself was spacious with huge shower, very clean, good air con. There was water in the room but I don’t think it was changed the 2nd day as promised. This could be problematic as no shops nearby. You can get bottle of water from restaurant but it doesn’t open all day. Lunch Buffet from restaurant was a bit overpriced but a la carte at dinner was reasonable and very tasty. Very reasonable and delicious white wine as well! St...
Strategic location, close to Orangutan and Sun Bear Center, near Rainforest discovery center. Better price compared with other accommodations there. Clean and comfy room.
I stayed in the dormitory rooms: only 3 bunks/6 bed; beds super comfortable; room have good areas and balcony; toilet outside super clean and hot water. Is a small resort, surrounded by nature, nice facilities but the food in the restaurant isn't edible. I tried breaksfast and dinner buffet and couldn't eat, fasting almost 24h and no options around, need to take a car/bike.Not a social place, only couples or groups.
The attitude of the staff is very good, but the price of washing clothes is not transparent. At the beginning, they quoted me 15/kg. I have 4kg clothes, and I need to spend 60. This is simply too expensive. When I proposed to wash by hand, they gave me I was quoted 30, which is not cheap, and faced with a pile of dirty laundry, I accepted it.
Great place to stay. The air conditioned bungalow was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff were lovely and very helpful in assisting us with our bags. Food was good but the only downside was the evening buffet was a bit basic and overpriced - they do this when there are alot of people staying, instead of the usual menu.
Really enjoyed our stay here. Very peaceful with amazing location allowing you to walk to all the local amenities. Private room was very expensive and we did get overcharged when we extended a night but I think it's typical of that area. Dorms are much more affordable. Nice restaurant. The room was large, clean and with a hot shower.
Rooms were really clean and it was in a very quiet location, the rooms are far from the road, although it isn’t that busy. We enjoyed our stay, however, we did book a bus through the hostel but when we got on the bus at the main road they had received any booking.
Lovely place, I think its the only dorms available in sepilok, very spacious, good ac and cleanliness overall. staff at the hotel were not attentive at all, we had like 1 interaction with them when checking in. The staff at the restaurant were nice though. Not much ambiance but it does its job in providing a nice clean place, walking distance from orangutan and bear conservation center and most other resorts.
