Summer House Cairns

I get that it's supposed to have a summer beach vibe, but the smell of dampness and wet towels all over the building was awful.

Disgusting kitchen covered in flies, really unhygienic. The shared facilities are nowhere near adequate for the amount of guests in the hostel, it’s overcrowded with never anywhere to sit. Damp and small room.

The hostel is super good. I met nice people and the shuttle bus is a good option to go to the town. Leticia at the reception was really kind.

Giant hostel, too busy. The 1 little kitchen facility is way too small for the amount of people. Kitchen is always packed, the fridges are overfull. Also, I think it's quite criminal to advertise wifi when you don't have wifi (and bad reception) in the rooms. Staff offered us a drink to compensate, very nice, but you need wifi.. I understand it's a big operation running a big hostel like this, but I would suggest to adjust the price accordingly. Pool, bar and volleyball area are nice ...

Avoid this place. The kitchen is tiny, dirty, and awful to use — I dreaded going in there. The beds are extremely uncomfortable, and I even broke out in hives after sleeping in mine. When I asked to change the sheets, staff were very rude about it. They also snapped at us over music before quiet hours had even started. Overall, a really poor experience.

Kitchen was a little chaotic at times and if you want to be closer to everything, stay more in the central area, but it was nice since we had to be at the airport the next morning and everything was clean and everyone was so nice! The staff were very welcoming and accommodating

Felt unsafe, not true to pictures! It looks like a prison and it was very dirty as well. I arrived late in the evening so there was no option to move places. I was awake because of the fire alarm at 2am. When I noticed I’ve got bed bugs, at the reception they were just laughing at me and didn’t take it serious. They said it was just a fly. I mean the bites were really bad and disgusting but their behaviour was even worse. Without an apoligy or refund I left the hostel with a terrible feeling...

I liked the hostel but it was very crowded. It’s really a good place to stay if you want to stay in cairns long term. It’s hard to be a part of the activities when your only there for a short amount of time. People know each other well and will mostly talk French, Spanish and Portuguese

Établissement très médiocre et excentrer de tout, cuisine horriblement sale et très peu pratique sans parler du staff, du moins d’un certain Luca qui est très irrespectueux et peu professionnel. Je déconseille fortement Summer house. Very mediocre establishment and located far from everything. The kitchen is horribly dirty and very impractical, not to mention the staff—especially a certain Luca, who is very disrespectful and unprofessional. I strongly do not recommend Summer House.

Everything was so dirty the room full of moisture everywhere, the corridor smelling the vomit, the bathroom full of faeces in the toilet and hair everywhere this is the worst hostel for the cleaness part that I did in Australia even the swimming pool nobody was taking care of it was full of leaf and soil.. I am really disappointed for the price you should hire more people to do the cleaning

Great hostel in a great location with lots of fantastic amenities and social activities. Also has a restaurant as part of the hostel which is really affordable. Staff where also class.

Great hostel, everything was clean, organized and comfortable. Special thanks to Leticia at reception, she was very friendly, attentive and helpful during my stay. Will definitely come back

Clean safe hostel, nice staff and lots of people to hangout with! Overall I had a great stay here and would return. For the girls, I felt safe the whole time!

Best social Hostel in Cairns. There is a Bar, Beachvolleyball and a Pool. You will never feel lonely when you come here, everyday at least 2 activities. Overall very clean especially regarding how big the hostel is!

I really recommend the hostel. Nice people, nice swimming pool. It’s a bit far from the town but the shuttle bus is for free and works well. They also have a good team of staffs. Leticia at the reception was really king and helpful.

Great hostel! Good atmosphere, big pool, slack line, volleyball nets and cool people. It’s a little out of the city which is nice and there’s a shuttle to take you into the city.

it’s always the best staying at summerhouse cairns!! the vibes, the people, the staff, the amenities, it’s all incredibly backpackery and you feel right at home when you enter any common area. if you’re staying in cairns long term i’d definitely recommend staying here!!

If you are looking for the opportunity to make friendships, this is the right place. If you are looking for efficiency, comfort, a manager who doesn't control you like a jailer, you've come to the wrong place, my friend. I stayed here for 9 months in total and i stayed just cuz my friends were here, that's it. Trust me i know everything about this hostel and yes, what i said it's the truth, don't be scammed by all the reviews that they have, they ask for good reviews at the reception. Enjoy Aus...
