Being right on the Cairns Esplanade is such a prime location — easy access to the waterfront, lagoon, and all the buzz of town. The pod-style beds with a fan and USB charging are a great modern touch, and having air conditioning on top of that definitely makes a difference in Cairns’ tropical climate. Friendly, welcoming staff plus a clean, comfortable space really does make a place feel like a home away from home. Definitely recommended to anyone traveling to Cairns.

I wasn't sure about staying here at first due to a recent poor review. I'm so glad I did!! What a little hidden gem right on the Esplanade. The hostel itself is older but don't let that bother you they keep everything so clean. The staff were super friendly and the vibe was chill. Definitely not a party place which i loved. The reception isn't full time but you can call them anytime and there was always a staff member available to help. I would definitely recommend staying here.

we're traveling for the past month and been to a couple of different hostels this is by far the worst one we've stayed in. we wanted to leave the hostel on the same day after we booked it for 3 days. there was no one to talk to no one even showed any interest in what was the problem and safe to say we didn't get any money back even tho we left the next morning. maintenance was so bad everything was dirty no light in the room and not even working bathroom and toilet in our section.

Dirty and broken down. I did not feel safe, no staff to check in or out and the front doors don't close properly so anyone off the street can walk in.

Some windows where missing, we could here every noise from outside, and it was very noisy.

Overall not a good experience. Hostel was really worn down, several sanitary facilities were not working properly and it was very noisy because of all the running acs everywhere. Our closest bathroom was not usable and we had to walk across the whole hostel to get to another one. Would not recommend. Only good thing was the location near the esplanade.

We stayed at Espy twice, our first stay was amazing 10/10 our room was comfortable and clean. The second stay was not quite so good, the bed felt like it was going to break just sitting on it and dipped in the middle. The kitchen and bathroom and spacious and the kitchen has lots of communal spices/bags/tuppaware. The aircon does drip throughout the property but this didn’t bother us at all. (Couple in private rooms)

good location, nice kitchen and pool. The only thing was the size of my 4 beds dorm, too tiny for me, no enough space and unfortunately no lockers

Check-In an Check-Out were really easy. Everyone was friendly, the beds and baths seemed clean and the location is just the best you can find, directly at the beachpool and the really nice promenade. Unfortunately the room was pretty messy, a lot of stuff lying around, probably from recent guests. The lockers were all occupied. The Hostel itself is not that pretty, it‘s built-in between other houses with basically no natural light. The kitchen was a mess with so much food standing around.

I stayed in a double room with an en-suite by myself as a solo traveller and it was lovely inside. However, I was maybe 3 rooms down from the kitchen/communal area and the noise levels throughout the entire night were ridiculous. 10pm curfew is not enforced due to no staff in the hostel. Loud conversations, banging of kitchen press doors, and banging of crockery and cutlery at all hours of the night meant waking up multiple times during the night even with earplugs.

For the money, this was good value. ( I had a private room with ensuite)) It is in a super handy and attractive location. The place had a really nice friendly vibe, with people from all over the world. Although the outlook from my room was a brick wall, and the decore was a bit meh, the room was comfy and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. There were two locked doors to go through to the accomodation . I had a bicycle with me and I could lock it beneath the internal stairs.

Few showers, very dark, well located

Super affordable hostel. Definitely get what you pay for. It took me a while to get the mildew scent out of my blanket. My friend and I avoided using the pillows because we could smell the mildew. Great location. Walkable to attractions. Lots of working holiday people.

Air condition was too loud. How can people sleep in that rooms? Sometimes there was no toilet paper. After cleaning it was better, but really clean is another thing. Some of the furniture, floor etc. Was really old and worn out. That's a pity, because it is a good vibe there and the hostel is located very good. The pool was very nice.

Great location and had all the facilities I needed. However the room was very damp - I could easily see where there had been mould on the walls. The room also didn't feel very clean - the floor was very dirty when I arrived.

Did not like this hostel at all. Good location but, very bad rooms. Good for one night but no longer.

The bathrooms were gross, it was as if the place was never cleaned. It was very run down and the chilling area was also very dirty. The aircons couldn’t be turned down either which left my room constantly freezing and because of this I was unable to sleep and ended up sick from the constant cold air. Terrible hostel would never stay again.
