Portree Independent Hostel

Il costo rispetto ai servizi offerti è esorbitante. La camerata, i bagni e le docce nel seminterrato sono freddi e umidi e sono esigui rispetto al numero di persone e vanno puliti con maggiore frequenza. Tra un letto e l’altro nella camerata da 12 c’è a malapena il posto per muoversi per una persona. Non ci sono a disposizione asciugacapelli, a parte uno solo, ed è di una scomodità incredibile. Direi che è tutto davvero molto scomodo. Ci sono venuto per mancanza di alternative.

Not enough toilets for the number of people . Lighting idiosyncratic - some individual lighting by the beds didn’t work . Lighting in the dorms very poor . Kitchen well equipped but smelly . Not good value for money -£82 for us / only a little less than a hotel or b and b - and we had to strip beds and queue for toilets . I think £25 pp would be more realistic .

Only stayed overnight and not stayed in a hostel for decades so hard to rate. Main thing missing for me was lack of place to have proper wash, don't always have time or inclination for a shower. Much prefer single sex dorm.

Very crowded and difficult to sleep in.

Nice place and big kitchen but no spices to cook or stuff like this. The staff is a big family and not very friendly but the room and bathroom were clean so nothing to complain about!

Staff is rude, Kitchen is well equipped and provides good utilities. But hostel is run by a family 5-6 member who will put tons of rules for travellers but themselves will break it. Its to noisy and loudly family will talking in kitchen!

Everything in the hostel was good except for the two other guests in our room who snored very loudly. Even with earplugs, it didn’t help, and I couldn’t sleep for two nights..

La ubicación es excelente, se encuentra a una cuadra del centro. El lugar es exactamente como se ve en la foto, cuenta con una super cocina y comedor con vista hacia el loch. Lo que si le faltaría es tener mas baños de los que tiene.

Very good location in Portree, the room in the day are very very very cold. Every heater was turn off until 16. A very big kitchen with everything necessary to cook but a small and cold lounge at the reception area.

This a pretty basic hostel, for the price I would expect a bit more. Most of the place is clean and comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked, and the location is excellent. A warning tho, the hostel is ‘closed’ from 10am-1pm. There are signs asking guests to not be in their rooms in that time, plus reception and the kitchen are locked. The kitchen also closes from 10pm-6am aha so limited cooking opportunities.

No lockers available except for really small one in the Lobby. NO VENTILATION IN THE ROOM!!! IT WAS STINKY ALL THE TIME! Could almost not breathe. Stayed for 3 night and I think if I would have stayed one more night I'd become sick! There's only one small dusty disgusting bacteria fan labelled as air purifier in the room for 12 ppl. I did never felt welcomed in the hostel and the staff never greeted someone. There were not rude but definitely not friendly. Do only stay here as a last resort!

good location, nice beds. But no lounge or place to meet people. No salt or pepper or oil in kitchen although other than that we'll equipped.

Clean facilities and rooms, large Kitchen, would describe it as 'functional'. Not much atmosphere, no lockers and the luggage storage was to just leave it in the hallway. Common areas could be a bit more inviting.

It was honestly not very clean. There were bugs in the bathroom and I could see splatters on the wall in the dorm where bugs had been squished before and not properly cleaned. No plugs near the beds, thankfully I had a power bank already charged for my phone to set my alarm. No secure place to store your things in the dorms either.

Le dortoir pour 12 dépends sûrement de l'ambiance le soir même, mais ne comptez pas trop sur un confort énorme et une relative intimité ... Néanmoins les locaux sont entretenus et restent propres.

Let me list the things you MUST like or be okay with if you want to stay in this place. If you own an airline, your flight will obviously never be delayed and you’ll never need to check in after 9 PM! Even if you call, explain the situation, and arrive at 11 PM – just 2 hours after check-in closes – I hope you enjoy having people talk badly about you at the front desk in another language (since you don’t speak theirs, they can say whatever they want). And of course, they’ll complain an...

Buena atención, tengan en cuenta que el hostel tiene reglas , a pesar que la cocina se podia usar hasta las 10 , pude usar el microondas porque el encargado me autorizó (eran mas de las 10 pm). todos muy amables. Los baños estaban limpios y la cama también. regresaría !!!

Hostel spacieux, salles de bains et WC propres. Par contre les murs des chambres et les éviers laissent à désirer. Toutes les chambres sont accessibles par code. Pas de casier individuel ni rideau autour des lits.

The room smelled very bad (chemical product for cockroaches ?) and it make us feel the place is not clean. It was also very crowded (not enough space between beds). It is a pity because the place is well situated and the kitchen is well organised... Moreover, the reception was not very friendly and the receptionist demanded that we pay in cash... This is strange and might be difficult for some travellers !

It was ok, but way to expensive for what you get. No lockers to lock in valuables. My bed linen were not changed from the person before, which I only realised later by the look of the freshly made beds. Shower has one temperature that you can’t change, which was too cold for me. Kitchen has a lot of stuff which is good but is closed early and half of the things are for staff use only. Payment at arrival is only in cash which is very inconvenient for international travellers.
