Room needs better sound proofing as we could hear every footstep from the upstairs room. This was obviously very disruptive to our sleep (bear in mind that people can get up very early and also go to bed very late).
This place is really cool. Clean and simple. It was a comfortable place to call home for a few nights.
Only one night stay but gteat place, clean, warm and the staff were friendly and helpful, will stay again and recommend to others
No central heating at night.
really fun met some good people there and had an overall great experience at the hostel
I LOVED this hostel! The staff were incredibly kind and helpful! I felt super safe as a solo female traveller. The views from the dining room are beyond beautiful looking out at the mountains. Beds super comfy, kitchen well equiped, showers fantastic. Genuinely felt like I was in a hotel. 10/10!
The hostel was great and the staff were even better. Hannah answered all our questions, helped us with figuring out the laundry and made sure we had everything we needed.
An amazing hostel! The staff were friendly and helpful. The kitchen space was large and well-equipped with lots of cooking utensils and free ingredients for people to use. The location was great being in the center of Portree with easy access to public transport. The room and bathroom spaces were extremely clean. However, the door to our room was left open while it was being cleaned, but no one seemed to be in there. But apart from that we would highly recommend this hostel as a lovely stay!
Well located, two blocks from the bus station. They have a great kitchen an amazing view to the sea. The facilities were good!
Excellent stay at Portree Youth Hostel. Very clean, well maintained, and in a peaceful location with easy access to Portree and nearby attractions. Friendly, helpful staff and spacious common areas made it comfortable for solo travellers. Comfortable beds, reliable facilities, and great value for money. Ideal base for exploring the Isle of Skye.
really comfy beds
Gracias.
One of the nicest hostels I’ve ever stayed in. The view from the common room was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Bus stop was less than 2 minutes walk away, it was great to hop on the bus and do a round trip to see all the top half of the island.
bonne auberge dans l'ensemble mais loin d'être la meilleure de l'île...
Absolutely enjoyed my stay in the isle of Skye / Portree. Everyone was super friendly, the location was central yet had an incredible view, and felt safe the whole time. The rooms were a bit tight and bathrooms smelt a bit like mildew, but honestly was not a huge bother for me. Would absolutely stay here again!
Fine location in Portree. The guy working did not seem to like that we asked for breakfast and was barely answering when we asked for anything. The atmosphere seemed a wee silent. Did not seem natural to have a conversation in the lounge unlike other hostels we have visited.
Great facilities in Portree. Right in the city centre and 1 minute walk to the bus station.
The staff ran an efficient hostel but lacked the personal touch I would hope from such an establishment. I feel a stay in a Youth Hostel should be more than just an inexpensive place to spend a night. Annually, I run a hostel on the Camino de Santiago in Spain and each night we work to create a cohesive atmosphere with those seeking shelter. I am 71, a life member of the YHA and I didn’t feel as welcome as I would have liked. Maybe the modern Youth Hostels are no longer for the likes of me...
