We had a really nice time in Mahahual, the hosts were very friendly and the hostel is located just by the sea, we enjoyed almost every meal at the beach. Very chilled vibes and super cute dogs and cats, we would come back!
The place needs a lot of repairs, and the hostel staff can be somewhat hostile and defensive. If you have the chance, I recommend looking for somewhere else.
Arrived with host refusing to help with one luggage to the second floor.Kitchen was FILTHY and washing dishes area was beyond disgustingly full with dishes as if not washed for dayss..deplorable conditions..bathroom full of pe or poop EVERY SINGLE TIME for 3 days.found out host is housing LEGIT HOMELESS PEOPLE(they told me their homeless on street stories)..food stolen of another guest..host yelled at her.No privacy.I would NOT RECOMMEND to ANYONE unless ur homeless or want to live around some.
property needs alot of repairs, there is nothing to do in mahahual, the beach is discouraging, everything is way over priced (up to 3x more expensive than Canada) ex: pineaple 100 pesos= 9.35$ we had booked 3 nights stayed 2 and when we said we were leaving the person imediately said "there is no refund" we had not even talked about it
We spent three nights camping at nirvana maya and it was a little slice of heaven! Far away from the main part of town which means you have the most peaceful private beach area! The host Sandra was so lovely and helpful. We had everything we need with a fully equipped kitchen and a tienda close by. Couldn’t be more perfect! Make sure to enjoy the sunrise each morning
I camped for a week and the location is really nice , on the beach with amazing sunrises. There’s a very healthy family feeling . Everyday they’re making meals on an outdoor fogata for people staying there and have no problem answering questions and offering their knowledge of the area. It’s kind of rough , but that’s what a campground is supposed to be. For an inexpensive camp outside of town ,( 90 pesos a night if you have your own tent) Nirvana is actually sweet.
This place was really disappointing. We booked the private room for two but it was a very primitive shed, the roof was leaking and the bed was very moldy. It was raining lots and we could not find a dry place to store our backpacks. We talked to the staff and got a bed in the shared dorm. Again the bed and the room stank very bad but at least it was dry-ish. We wanted money back since the bed in the dorm was much cheaper than the private room but they gave only a little bit back. Dont go here!!!
You get what you pay for- cheapest accommodation in Mahahual. it was quiet, away from the daily cruise ship influx. There is a lovely beach out the front and you can snorkel literally out the front at the beach. However, we were constantly attacked by mosquitos. In the whole of Latin America this is the worse mosquitos we have suffered by far. They are horrid! Needs some renovations. Hosts are friendly and cooked us local lobster for 300 pesos per persona delicious!
little paradise. 6 seconds walk to the beach. but one shower, one toilet for everyone. friendly staff but dormitories are super close from where people drink and play music
Paradise. Come see for yourself 😊
The location right next to the beach is amazing! It's like a 20-minute-walk away from the bus station, which means that you're far away from the touristic hotels and especially the cruise ships. At the same time the beach is full of plastic waste, which is kind of sad, but also very natural :( If you're looking for a clean, tidy, nice and neat hostel, this might not be the place for you. It has a kind of hippie vibe and you feel quite close to the nature around you and the area generally
