My first hostel experience; loved it. Cool vibes from the team, small and affordable breakfast (but it does it’s thing) and clean rooms and bathrooms. Would definitely recommend it.

The place is very nice, there are rules for cleaning the kitchen after use, which I like, but if I'm on vacation I don't like sharing a room with workers. More than half the people in that hostel were workers; it wasn't a touristy atmosphere, it was more of a workers' place. I'm just giving a heads-up about what it is. As mentioned from other reviews power points are needed for top bunks. Clean, good facilities. Hostel isn't right in town but only a 10-15 min walk fro centre & a nice walk. Under bed lockers need maintenance. Has good security

Reservei uma suíte privada e por ser no último andar a água não chegava! Tinha que tomar banho no coletivo! Eles reembolsaram a diária, mas experiências de chegar e não ter água no banheiro foi muito ruim! O café da manhã tbm achei bem fraco.

This was my first hostel experience, so I didn’t know what to expect, but I really enjoyed my stay. The place was clean, organised, respectful, and made me feel safe. The staff was kind and helpful from the first contact by email and WhatsApp until the end. During my stay, they were always available when needed. I also met lovely people, made new friends, and had a great experience overall. Iwould recommend it and would happily stay here again.

The Astor York was a wonderful place to stay and explore York. Whilst not in the city centre it's well-served by bus stops immediately adjacent or by a lovely short walk. The staff are all incredibly friendly and create a really safe and kind vibe to the place that sets a fantastic tone. The place isn't new and shiny, but it has the vibe of a nice sharehouse of hospitable friends of a friend. There's also a great variety communal spaces, kept clean by hardworking staff behind the scenes.

Better than many

A nice hostel, but a bit of a walk outside the city centre. My only real issue was their inability to keep the reception open for 5 extra minutes due to my late train. Tried to plan this with them many weeks in advance by email but they would not help me at all. Had to book a second room in another hostel to ensure I wouldn’t be out on the streets that night. Other than that the hostel was clean and the staff friendly.

the place was good a, but its very far from the city centre and train station, also have no food places around. No room freshener.

The walk is not 10 mins into town it’s more like 25 so was a bit of a hike. Always love to have lockers in the room for luggage which there were none. You could lay for small lockers during the day. Keycard access was easy. Out bathroom toilet didn’t flush well and took multiple attempts sometimes to get it to flush. Other than that the shower was lovely and seating areas were nice. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, except it’s 20 minute walk from downtown York which was the only downside

Great hostel - Ericka’s tour was a standout, her passion for history shines through, its well thought out and blends history with humour and tips for things to see and do in York along the way which was appreciated.

I really liked the free tour, Erica was super nice !

Our stay in Astor York was really great! The beds were comfortable and it was a cold weekend, so we were glad for good heating!! The staff was really friendly and kind and the kitchen is really well equipped! The only thing that bothered us was that the shower curtain was old and stinky and it stank the whole room up after we used the shower. If possible, change the shower curtain in room 26!!
