Joval Homestay

I had a very nice stay at Joval Homestay. Everything was as described on the site. The staff was very kind. The air con 4 bed dorm was good. Joval is an affordable hostel. I had the most authentic experience in the Philippines so far thanks to this hostel. Local food recs, tour recs, it’s a tad on the outskirts so can see life of the Filipinos in Coron, but still a quick walk to downtown. It’s very nice for an experienced backpacker/ traveler.

This was my second visit to joval homestay. Its a great place to stay, reggie will take good care of you. This is a homely place on a quiet street, surrounded by lovely people. I would definetly reconmend this place and visit again. Thanks again reggie, till next time!

Owner was very helpful in organising tours and transfers. No curtains or lockers in the rooms and no lock on the door. There was a terrible fishy smell in the place which made the common areas fairly useless - it looked like the owner was growing something on the bottom floor in big barrels. One of the beds in the dorm was right below the aircon so whoever was in that bed was much colder than the rest of the dorm. Probably wouldn’t recommend which is unfortunate because the owner is very nice.

Very social homestay, met lots of cool people in a short period of time. Facilities are all fine although it might be helpful to have lockers and more toliet paper on standby.Host is very helpful.

Everything in town is walking distance so wasn’t far at all.

The manager was amazing and went above and beyond for us. He was so helpful. It was all clean and did the job, aircon was amazing too. Only let down was the shower barely ran and was cold. Bathroom/toilet area quite small

Reggie it’s the best very friendly and helpful, he gives all the tips. You can choose the room with ac or without. The room was clean and the bathroom was ok you share with your room. The town is just 10minutes when you walk

Reggie est un super hôte. Il est extrêmement arrangeant et donne de nombreux conseils sur la ville et les island hopping.

Clean and comfy in a good location. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful with advice and tips.

Overall, Joval homestay was a great stay and I would visit again! Kuya Reggie is super helpful to book tours and he is just a text message away if you need help with something. The homestay is a bit hidden I’d say, but still super accessible to everything you need. Some have complaint about water pressure in the showers and such but they need to be realistic— it is an island with limited resources. When I went during dry season it was fine. It is a humble hostel and I recommend it!

Reggie is THE BEST. he has a lot of good tips and advice and is aaleays available to help. one of the most carcaring hosts ive ever had. the rooms are really clean and facilities are lovely. would stay again!

Hostel owner is super nice and helpful with anything you might need and its very competitive on price. Beds could do with privacy curtains and the check in process is a bit confusing, as you will likely be met with a locked gate. Location isn’t amazing but not too far from stuff

The owner Reggie is so friendly and helpful. He gonna help you rent a scooter or plan the best tour of the island at the best price. You’ll feel at home away from home. There’s also a really kind neighbor family next door who can laundry and make breakfast. About the bathrooms, it could be cleaner ofc and the water pressure is kinda low but it’s really okay for the price.

Thanks to Reggie my stay in coron was even more enjoyable. He helped me book everything I needed to good prices and gave me a lot of information about the good spots of the island. Thank you so much man

Owner was very helpful, air con in rooms, showers could have better pressure. Got cheap breaky from lady accross the round 100 peso for eggs on toast. Beds were comfy

I had an amazing stay, Reggie was so kind helpful with great recommendations, and the location is great!

The location of the hostel is great on a quiet street only 2minutes from the Main Street. Reggie the owner is very friendly and accommodating. Only things to note is the wifi doesn’t quite reach the dorm’s on the top floor, the dorms do not have aircon only fans so is very warm in the room (not necessarily an issue but will be to some) and the shower has very low pressure but again isn’t a huge problem.

The owner is one of the nicest I've met during my 5 months of travel. He has really good recommendations for sightseeings and cheap restaurants. He's always available to help! The place is 10 min walk from the city center and 45 min walk from one of the best snorkeling spot. The place is quite small, so it's easy to meet other travelers.
