Second stay here, obviously I liked it! Good pricing, clean & cozy for a snowy week. Quiet-ish area, bus line VERY close, train a short walk, there's a 24hr grocery store at the train station. Kitchen has hot plate but no oven, fridge/freezer space difficult, otherwise well-equipped; nice set-up for morning coffee/tea, common area is cozy and pleasant. Bunk beds firm, privacy curtains and individual outlets, light, shelf for essentials. Self-checkin possible for late arrivals, contact them.
The hostel itself is very decent. I had not that much contact with the host because everything was fine, but the check-in worked really well. The location is around a 30 min walk from the centre where actually stuff is going on. Nothing to do with the hostel and just unlucky timing I guess, but the people were quiet, so really quiet. You sometimes didn't even get a response on a simple „Hi“. They also have a bar, never heard of some stuff that was going on down there. The rest is top level!
My experience was negatively impacted by the people in my room. However, please note that this is very far from the city center and that the staff will throw ragers and not invite the guests. Normally I wouldn't mind, but when that party is right downstairs, with sound traveling, on a Sunday night no less, it's frustrating. Oh, and they'll vacuum (once again, sound travels) until 1:30am. I've had a long stretch without a bad hostel experience, but that has officially come to an end.
It is nice stop in Sapporo.
Great place to stay for a couple of nights. Facilities are great and the so is the location
Very nice environment and great people. Loved my time in waya
I stayed here for a night passing through Sapporo. Loved the location and vibes of everything. I felt super safe and enjoyed chatting with the staff and other guests. Best bed I had slept in Japan yet!
It’s a cute little hostel. Small and cozy. You have to go across the river to get to downtown and it’s at least a 10 minute walk to get to the metro stations, but otherwise solid.
Kitchen well-equipped, staff downstairs a bit confused but we got things straight, rooms very well set up. I thought bathroom space would be a problem but it never was. Cozy hangout space + table & chairs, had fun talking with other guests. 24hr grocery 10min walk, yay, subway & bus to airport also easy walk. Quiet area. I'm returning in a couple months!
Such a quiet and charming hostel. the beds are comfy and have curtains so you have some privacy. Everything is clean and spacious. I loved having my tea while reading or writing in the common room. Will come back for sure !
I booked a 2-night stay but left around 3am the first night. The building isn’t well thought out, isn’t isolated (single pane glass), and doesn’t feel safe for women. I booked the ensuite private room but it’s actually right next to the men’s toilet on one side, the smoking area on another, the ensuite toilet on a third, and a dorm room on the 4th wall. So I could hear people coming and going all night. The staff are lovely, but the owner probably hasn’t invested in the hostel for...
Very good hostel, but they clean loudly if you wanna sleep in, but otherwise very lovely with comfy beds
A good hostel. It feels like a "Mom and Pop" owned hostel. The only negatives are that it's out of the way, the bar area wasn't very social for travelers, and they don't allow you to leave bags before check-in at 4pm. I checked out of my previous hostel at 10am, went to Waya, and there was nobody there until 4pm. I had to drag around my bags for over 5 hours. At least it was warm outside and not cold and snowy, like other people experienced. They need to have a way to drop off bags before 4pm.
Be sure to check out the Indian restaurant in the basement. Good stuff!
good hostel / backpacking vibe especially for japan
Lovely hostel. I would absolutely stay here again.
good hostel with a chill common area. The best was comfy. As other comments mentioned, it's not dead center in the city but it wasn't much of an issue for me
Super Hostel mit nettem Personal und schöner Einrichtung.
A nice Hostel with great common room and curtains at the beds for privacy. The washing machine doesn't work properly, so we had to fix many different errors (not so easy in Japan) and ended up having to rewash everything in a laundromat. The staff was nice and helpfull though. Most if the travellers seemed to like it quiet and to stay for themselves.
