When I came here I was the only guest and the owners had to leave for an emergency, so it was me and the housekeeper and for some of the time, their friends. So I can't comment on the social life. But it was clean and beautiful, very peaceful, the dogs and cats are awesome and the housekeeper was really kind. I would recommend for a chill place to stay, a 20 minute slow cycle on a rusty bicycle from the beach.

Lovely place, lovely people, lovely pets. Bit further out so be prepared to cycle/ get tuktuk into main town or beach.

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. People will always say good or bad things about a place but what they don't realise is that they are creating their neg experience. But it would be pretty hard to have a bad experience here. Kiri is a legendary host super cool chill guy that's very helpful. The animals are fun and keep the place with some extra life. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Home Away From Home – Lake Hostel Hikkaduwa I had a truly wonderful stay at Lake Hostel Hikkaduwa and it became one of the highlights of my Sri Lanka trip. I stayed in the dormitory for two nights, and everything was absolutely neat, clean, and well maintained. The peaceful environment near the lake makes it a perfect place to relax. One of the most beautiful and best places I have ever stayed at. I had to extend my stay because I liked it so much. Its in the nature, so no car buzzing sounds, but still easy to acces to restaurants and taking their bicycle to the town. We even took the boat out for the sunrise! The breakfast is really good! The chilling area is so nice, multiple places to choose from. the staff made me feel so welcome! Im gonna also miss the most friendliest dogs and cats.

Excellent hostel. Kiri, the owner, is a great host and a kind person. The atmosphere is very laid-back and relaxed, making it a great place to unwind, with a chill-out area overlooking the lake. Very large and lively hostel. It offers great opportunities to just ease into the day and go with the flow. The host and all the staff are super kind and respectful. The dogs and cats also made the stay even better! The family dinner is delivering as well, super good currys!

Absolutely stunning place to stay, so calming and peaceful right on the lake so you can read a book or take a boat out.. they have yoga mats if you want to do yoga or games as well as evening dinners. Really lovely place and vibe here, the have some pet dogs and cats which are so gentle and friendly

Such an amazing, zen place. Super comfy beds and great facilities, social but very chill. It’s a short tuktuk away from Hikkaduwa beach but so quiet and feels like you’re in the jungle. Family dinner is so delicious and breakfast is amazing. Kiri is such a great host and all the pets are so sweet and cuddly. Could not recommend more.

LOVED this hostel Owner is amazing, so friendly and helpful Unfortunately did not get to do the art classes which sounded great! It is quite far from the main area but definitely worth it due to the view and the people Free canoe for the lake

Es war das schönste Hostel in dem ich auf ganz Sir Lanka war. Kiri ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Hostel liegt an einem See, es ist super ruhig und schön hier mit dem TukTuk ist man in 10 min in der Stadt oder mit dem Bus. Es ist super einfach hier Leute kennenzulernen und jeder verlängert hier seinen Aufenthalt weil es so schön ist. Mit dem Kajak, welches kostenlos ist kann man den See/Fluss erkunden und ist super schön. 😊

It‘s really peaceful and homey! The owner is the best and it‘s really clean. You meet people there but you still have enough privacy as well :)

Thanks to Kiri and all the staff for the good welcoming. This place is amazing, very peacefull, It's the perfect to rest and stay in a calm place. It's very clean and all the staff doing his best to keep it clean and welcoming. The food is very good, you can also go on the lake by canoë for free whenever you want ! I can really recommend this hostel! it‘s a place where you will definitly extend your stay;) it‘s only 5min away from the beach with the tuktuk but still away from the noisy street in the village. you will find lots of chill people here, including the staff and the atmosphere is really nice! thanks a lot🫶🏼

Es war super schön bei Kiri am See! Man fühlt sich wie im Dschungel, kann mit dem Kayak kostenlos den See erkunden, richtig toll entspannen und die Stimmung ist sehr familiär. War eins der schönsten Hostels auf meinen Reisen! Geht unbedingt hier hin!

geweldig verblijf! ik had daar veel langer willen blijven, echt zo ontspannen en groen en een fijne gemeenschappelijke plek. en de host Kiri is super aardig en behulpzaam.
