The Blue Hostel

+ Lovely clean and comfortable room in a great central location. The lovely staff let us use the room later on for a shower before we got our night bus which was hugely appreciated! We used the hotels TikTok driver Mr Den for a tour of Battambang and Den was so lovely and knowledgeable, we couldn’t recommend enough.

+ The Wi-Fi worked well, which allowed me to work during my stay. The location is also convenient, and most places in Battambang can be reached on foot.

- There was nothing particularly enjoyable about the stay overall. The place was very dusty and felt quite dirty, partly because of the city itself, but also because the property did not seem to be cleaned properly. Everything felt disorganized. It also has the downsides of a hotel without the benefits, and the downsides of an Airbnb without the comfort or service you would expect. For example, it is advertised as having a washing machine, but this is misleading because guests are asked to pay to use it. We had to argue about this, since the first time it was offered for free, and the second time we were suddenly asked to pay. That kind of inconsistency is frustrating. The staff were generally kind, but there was very little sense of customer service. No one came to clean the room, replace coffee, or refresh anything during the stay. Another important point: this place is not suitable for people with mobility issues, as the stairs to reach the room are difficult. We also had a frustrating experience with the tuk-tuk driver arranged for transport. He was very pushy, kept insisting that we pay in cash even though we prefer using Grab, and he made us lose time on our last day when we needed to catch our bus. Overall, this place is not worth the price if you are looking for a comfortable stay.

- L'accès à la chambre se fait par un couloir peu entretenu entre 2 maisons, surprenant à l'arrivée! Très chaud dans la chambre, je pense que nous étions juste sous les toits, chambre à l'étage. La climatisation est un peu poussive

+ Établissement situé au cœur de Battambang, à 3min à pieds du marché central et juste à côté de deux supers restaurants ! Parfait pour un séjour de courte durée :)

+ The location was excellent.

- I had to keep the curtains closed in order to have any privacy.

+ Friendly owners. They switched our rooms at the last minute, but that's okay. They gave us a discount for the inconvenience. The room was comfortable for a one night stay.

+ Owner was very helpful in organizing transportation to my next destination. The owner and sister made “Akor Thnort”, traditional Cambodian rice cakes, that they sold right outside the guest house. If you”re not staying there, go there anyways to get this super yummy street food!

- the stairs up to my room were quite steep, nonetheless managed ok

+ Vraiment satisfait de ma chambre, spacieuse, propre, bien équipée, clair avec balcon à l'étage, wifi et clim super, excellent rapport qualité prix.

+ One of the nicest places I’ve stayed on my travels! The room just had such a nice, relaxing feel to it! So modern and clean! I had a wonderful sleep and a great trip with our driver den! Thankyou.

+ Loved this homestay! Nice, clean & spacious room, lovely staff. The tuktuk driver who worked for the honesty was lovely and came to pick us up from the bus stop for free. We then booked a day tour with him the next day which was amazing, would highly recommend! Good WiFi which has been a struggle to find so far for us in Cambodia.

- Shower drain needs unblocking but other than that the stay was perfect
