The Sparkling Turtle Backpackers Hostel

This hostel was an absolutely wonderful stay. The location was great, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view of the city. My plane was delayed and I didn't arrive until almost 2 am, and the owner stayed up that entire time, keeping in contact with me to make sure that I found my ride and arrived safely. He was able to give me advice on what to see in the city, and help with transport for everything. Absolutely lovely family, highly recommended hostel for anyone!

Ajeet and his whole family really help you out with anything you could need! I felt very safe and comfortable here, it is a much quieter part of Kathmundu than many other hostels in the city. Good walking distance from many places to visit such as temples and cafes. You can also look over the city from the windows in the rooms and the rooms are incredibly clean and comfy. There are clean sheets as well as charging outlets and lights in each bed. I liked everything!!

This was the best hostel I stayed at in Kathmandu and I absolutely loved it. It really felt like a home away from home. The family who runs it made me feel so welcome and safe as a solo traveler. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was a highlight, fresh and delicious every morning. The rooms were very clean and everything felt new and well cared for. They arranged my bus to Pokhara and even walked me there early in the morning, which meant a lot. Such a warm, welcoming place at a great price...

The owner is very friendly, always asking about our day when we get back in the evening. Less than 30 minutes walk to Tergar Osel Ling, so it was perfect place to stay for a Tergar retreat. The room was very clean. Some sounds from the road, but it didn't really bother me. I booked with breakfast, but because I left very early in the morning, breakfast was not available. The owner was so friendly that he provided me some fruits each evening so I could have that for breakfast.

It’s a wonderful family owned hostel. I felt relaxed and welcomed from the moment I arrived. Ajeet and his wife took really good care of everything. It felt like home. Great location in a local area close to the Budda Park and the Monkey Temple. There are shops and restaurants nearby. It’s very clean and quiet. I’ll definitely return here

My stay at this hostel in Nepal was a pleasant experience. The rooms were clean, the family running the place was kind and supportive, and I felt well taken care of. The environment was peaceful, and I really enjoyed my time here.

Great spot, lovely hosts

The staff are the very best – extremely helpful, informative, and friendly. The old city is just a short taxi ride away. The stupa is very near indeed. The hostel is in new condition with all the best facilities. It has a fantastic view over the valley. There are local Cafes and restaurants that also have a great view. The sparkling turtle Hostel, is easily one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. This family run hostel it’s extremely hospitable and sits just outside town. Close enough to walk into town and far enough away to stay away from other tourists. The family itself is such a beautiful welcoming family have plenty of information for places to visit or things to do if you need. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Loved my time there.

“Come as a stranger, stay as a guest & leave as a friend” truly is the motto of this hostel. Ajeet and his family were amazing, the hostel was great and it felt great to be a bit away from the constant roar of Thamel. Would 100% recommend!

The Sparkling Turtle is truly a hidden gem, and serves as a wonderful escape from the heart of Thamel. Our stay with Ajeet and his beautiful family was amazing, and they truly treat you and make you feel like a part of the family. My friend and I actually stayed here THREE SEPARATE TIMES because it is absolutely spotless and the most comfortable/relaxing place after a trek or to get out of the touristy areas. The food is incredible: delicious, home cooked, authentic local cuisine made with love!

My sister and I had a wonderful stay here! We had a room with a balcony and a lovely view of Kathmandu. It was nice not to stay in busy Thamel (the tourist area in the center). It was however easy to get to Thanek, and cheap with the InDrive-app for taxis. The place was also really clean and had a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The hosts were so friendly that it felt like a homestay. We learnt so much about Nepalese culture and felt very included by the family running the place.

A super clean hotel/hostel near the famous Monkey Temple. There's a lot to see in the surrounding area, but it's in a very non-touristy area, so you can get a more genuine view of Kathmandu. The owners of the hotel keep it pristine, and are incredibly kind & happy to assist with any information regarding Nepal. This is the best place I've stayed in Nepal so far.

My stay was wonderful! Ajeet was so helpful and arranged airport pick up as well as took me to the bus station in the morning. Good location and amazing staff! They treat you like family!
