Hotel Fontana Luxor

Very nice hostel, good and central location, and lovely staff!

Mahmoud and his family were great hosts and made sure that we had the most comfortable experience we can have in Egypt. He sent us only to the most trustworthy Guides, communicated with Egyptians for us and drove us around and aswered all of our questions and was nice all around. The hostel itself was clean and quiet with a great price if you're travelling as two people like we did :)

Mahmoud was very friendly and was always around to assist us, and really helped to make us feel welcome and facilitate some activities we wanted to do. He even moved us to a nicer room on the second floor at no extra cost, because we were originally on the fourth floor. In terms of location it is near everything you would want to see and has a lot of food options within a couple minutes walk. Just watch out for the kids who play in the street, as they may mob you, especially when you have food.

The old lady at reception desk ask misplaced questions (your family, what is your job.. etc) why you arrive late.. the place seems safe, the ground is not clean. I have booked a private suite, there is no towels in the bathroom, no soap, and when you ask them you get a dirty towel 30min later and a piece of soap so you can go to toilet. By default there is no hot water, the heater is off and you should turn it on by yourself and wait at least one hour to get the hot water.

Despite reservation I did not get to stay @Fontana. That eve I phoned to ensure a late arrival wouldn't cause room to go away; "Don't worry" was reply. Upon arrival, exhausted, I was asked how long I'd stay & whether I wanted to join a tour @8am. 1 night, & no thx. Then I'm told room's previous occupant hasn't left, so it's me who gets scuttled to a "next door" (not!) property. New room was harsh, buggy, & FILTHY. Bookers, if this happens to you, *find other housing*. Fontana, do better.

The location was a bit away from the ruins, though walking wasn't bad either. The place was good and the host was very helpful and reliable. Only thing is that the beds were really bad. Matresses need to be changed for new ones. Hard to sleep.

L’hospitalité de la famille qui tient l’hôtel est magnifique. Le papa et ses fils sont très chaleureux et très avenants. Ils sont disponibles à tout moment . La communication est vraiment simplifiée car la famille parle anglais. Mahmoud est super et toujours à votre écoute. Hello. I enjoyed my stay at the Fontana Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with their English being excellent. They can help with suggesting & even organizing things to do in Luxor, & beyond. Located more or less in a friendly alley where only cats and vibrant playing children dominate. Restaurants & shopping are only a block away. It is also near the Luxor temple & the Nile, & walking distance from the train & go-bus stations. Great price too!
