Beds were abysmal. Flimsy thin metal bunks with no privacy curtains and ancient sheet thin mattresses. No power point on the top bunk either so couldn’t charge phone overnight. Also no space for luggage, only small lockers that wouldn’t even fit a backpack. Staff however were friendly, and the breakfast was surprisingly good.
Love to stay at Heights House in Houston. Kindness of staff, as I tell them, just like family to me. As I am in Texas whithout family living in France and Morocco. Have been as well happy to share with other costumers, with common interests. Plus great time with the Pool and good Breakfast. Just worried about possible increase of cost of housing. It's rented from another hotel, and convert the back side of that hotel into a hostel. 0 privacy, even for a hostel. AC not working, couldn't find the power outlet anywhere near my bunk (upper bunk). Low maintenance on everything, sketchy neighborhood, and with an experience of a solo traveler for 2.5 years, i do NOT feel safe with the people in the room. It is what you paid for, do not expect the traveler kind of hostel. Nowhere close to advertisements, worst hostel i've ever stayed.
Unfortunately we had a person who lived in our room and she would eat in the room which made it very smelly. A bit of a strange area with not a lot going on
Bonnie is the best!
I have been to quite a few hostels (100s) & the staff here really show you the southern hospitality that you hear about in the movies. The staff at this hostel were always checking in with everyone, making sure that every single guest was doing ok and just being really nice people. This place is pretty central (About a 45-minute bus to downtown) The atmosphere at the time was ok, but it was 5C so the outside area was not usable, but it seems like an awesome place when it's warm
Great place , too stay, perfectly placed in center of Houston , metro transitting to important venues, historic landmarks, banking establishments, shopping malls, airport, very close and convenient. Place well maintained .
great staff, facilities are okay, in room bathroom is way too small, and locals staying is kind of a downer. was hoping to meet other travellers but did not
The property itself was fine, and the staff at the front desk were very kind. The breakfast offered was also a nice touch. The area of the hostel (which I understand can’t be controlled) is not the best, but if you are out and doing things, that is okay.
Comfy beds, clean, staff were very very good, good pool…however..cut our stay short as there was a homeless man staying, which we were all for, but the hygiene of him meant that we had to go out at midnight to buy air fresheners and did not add to the security.
The bed was smelly and uncomfortable to sleep on. The room needs tidying up Also please use air freshener it smells musty!
Good place, can’t complain for the price
Il est mal indiquer pas le même non en vrai que indiquer sur le site pas d’ambiance d’espace vraiment de vie comme on voudrait trouver dans un hostel
Very basic, was fine for an overnight before flying. Beds in the dorms didn’t have privacy curtains. Staff were very friendly. Location was kind of hard to find because it operates out the back of a hotel. Comfy beds.
greatest hotel ever
Creo que hace falta espacios comunes, además de que si comes en las mesas donde está la recepción te ven feo, pero es el único espacio para comer. En el caso de la alberca, me tocó un evento privado y estaba mucha gente ahí.
My only issue with the hostel rooms is the lack of outlet by every bed. As an overseas traveller, I have a travel adapter and then my own plugs which are quite weighty to be awkwardly hanging off a powerboard that was attached to the upper bunkbed behind my head. Thankfully there was a US plug I was able to use with my own cords which reached my bed, still awkward though.
I'd return. great place
The hostel is located at the back of an upgraded motel of a different name so finding it was a little confusing. Breakfast is advertised but I stayed two nights and there was no breakfast and the kitchen didn't open until 3:00 pm. There are lockers but they're small, only big enough to hold small items like a purse. The staff is nice and helpful. The hostel is a good value for the price.
